Guest guest
“SrisailEsa dayApAthram dheebhakthyAdhi gunArnavam yatheendra pravanam vandhE ramyajAmAtharam munim II” Dear bhagavatas, Iyppasi thirumoolam is right round the corner. It is “The day” in the life of all Srivaishnavas. “senthamizh vEdhiyar sindhai thelindhu sirandhu magizhindhidunAl” This is the day in which the cloud of doubts in all our minds were washed out due to the divine avathara of the “vishadhavAk sikAmani” swamy Azhagiya manavAla mAmunikal. This is the day on which the last acharya in the guru paramparai took avathara to spread the divine messages of all our poorvacharyas and enlighten the minds of all the jeevatmas. “seerulagAriyan seitharul narkalai dEsu polindhidunAl”. This is the day, which is going to uplift all of us to the divine abode of emperuman “mandhamadhipuvi mAdidar thangalai vAnil vuyarthidunAl”. This is the day, on which the ethipunarAvathAra, yatheendra pravanar swami mAmunigal descended to this world due to his divine grace on the suffering jeevatmas “mAsarujnAniyar sEryethirAsar tham vAzhvu mulaiththidu nAl” This is the day which spread the divine arthas imbedded in the thiruvAimozhi of swamy nammazhvar to the lowest of the lowest agnani and also to the highest of the highest jnani (namperumal) without any differentiation. “kandhamalar pozhil soozhkurugAdhipan kalaigal vilangidunAl” This is the day which even the emperuman Sri ranganatha celebrates as the thiruavadhara dhinam of his own acharya, the long standing wish of emperuman to possess an acharya without any flaws, “jnanam anushtanam evai nandrAgavE vudaiyanAna guru” unlike his previous acharyas like vasista/vishvamitra in ramavatara and sandeepani in krishnavatara getting fulfilled ”kAramar mEni aranganagar kirai kangal kaliththidunAl” This is the day on which Sri ramyajAmAtru muni took avathara “andhamil seer manavAla muni paranavathAram seidhidunAL azhaghu thirugazhindhidum Iyppasiyil thirumoolamadhenunAlE” While trying to explore the depth of the kalyana gunas of emperuman the vedas regarded as the highest encyclopedia of knowledge in the world itself declares without shame “nethi nethi” that it cannot do it. Emperuman is an ocean of kalyana gunas and to the find the depth of even one of his kalyana guna is impossible. Only thing one can conclude is that our knowledge is complete when we understand that his gunas are beyond our small minds understanding capacity. The same holds good for even our acharyas. Many of you may pounce on me for such a statement. Emperuman is all-pervading, omnipotent, omniscience. But the acharyas are also jeevatmas, one among us. How can you say that the acharyas are equal to emperuman? That is our sampradayam. We regard our acharyas equal or even higher than emperuman. Acharyas show us the way to emperuman. Without them we will never be able to cross this ocean of samsara. Like a boatman with his boat coming to the rescue of a person caught in a flood, acharyas come to our rescue to save us from this ocean of samsara, and safely take us to the other side the divine abode of emperuman. Shouldn’t we be deeply indebted to the great service rendered in time? The emperuman surely accepts us with great pleasure after we reach his divine abode but then this was made possible only due to the grace of the acharya. The fact that emperuman only sent the acharya do remains but still the emperuman has his own limitations and hence cannot come to our rescue directly secondly, the emperuman has a nithya sambhandam (deep rooted relationship) with each one of us so it is his duty to save all of us but then the acharya comes to our rescue without any reason or expectation but just to please his own acharya and inturn the divine couples. What to say about such divine qualities of our acharyas? Sure a person with the lowest of the lowest knowledge like adiyen cannot explain it. But then can the emperuman do it? No. He himself is caught without knowing what to say and do. When hanuman went to lanka and came back with the kanaiyAzhi of piratti, Sri rAmapiran didn’t know what to give hanuman as a token of gratefulness for the great help he has rendered. Sri ranganatha was unable to express the divine qualities of his acharya, swamy Manavala mAmunikal in depth and hence says, “dheebhakthyAdhi gunArnavam” Swamy is just an ocean of divine qualities viz., jnana, bhakthi and vairakhya. So what am I going to say about such a great mahan? A cyclone developed inside adiyen’s mind. Swamy’s thirunakshatram is approaching. Adiyen wanted to write something about him and make my hands, mind, mouth and eyes get the effect of their existence. But then what to write? How can adiyen dive into this ocean without fear? Can adiyen, already very poor in vocabulary find words to really explain the divine qualities of swamy without any abhacharam? But then what is the purpose of living if adiyen misses this divine opportunity of writing about the great mahan? With all these thoughts adiyen refrained from writing all these days. But then by the divine grace of swamy mAmunikal adiyen has now gained the strength to write with the following verses of our poorvAcharyas in mind. "elaiya pun kavidhaiyElum empirArkku eniyavArE” (Thirumaalai-45) “eyalumporulum esaiyathoduththu eenkavigal anbAl mayalkoNdu vAzhththum erAmAnusanai madhiyinmaiyAl payilum kavigalil paththiyillAdha ven pAvi jenjAl muyalginranan avan than perum keerthi mozhindhidavE” (ramanuja nootrandhAdhi-6) “munnOr mozhindha murai thappAmal kettu pinOrindhu thAmadhanai pEsAdhE thannenjil thOtrinadhEsolli edhu suththa upadEsavara vAttrathenbar moorkarAvAr” (upadesaratnamalai-71) In the next posting we will enjoy the extract of the upanyasam of Sri Prathivadi bayangaram annangarachariyar swamy (in the 70’s) comparing the ocean of water and the ocean of gunas. “apagatha madhamAnai: anthimObhAyanishtai: athikatha paramArththai arthakAmAnabhEkshai: nikila jana suhruthbhi: nirjithakrOdha lObhai: vara vara munibruthyai asthumE nithya yoga: II” Alwar EmperumAnAr Jeeyer thiruvadigalE sharanam Adiyen rAmAnuja dAseeSumithra Varadarajan Azhwar emperumAnAr jeeyar thiruvadigalE saraNam Adiyen rAmAnuja dAsan/dAsee Varadarajan/Sumithra Exclusive Video Premiere - Britney Spears
