Dharma (sorey Arancheyyum). Annadhanam on “Offering of Food is the

Exclusive Privilege of Ladies.

The Sastras declare that Ladies only can offer Food to Yadhigal and

Bhaghavadhargal. They can only offer Rice Bhiksha to Young Boys on

the Day of their Upanayanam (Sacred Thread Ceremony) Further

entertaining guests is also prerogative of Ladies. Thus Annadhanam

is not a Privilege but a sacred duty cast on Ladies. Epics Record

the fact that Sita Devi, Draupadi and Rishipathnis strictly followed

this practice in the lines and entertained several holy guests.

While offering food and entertaining guests anywhere and anytime would

definitely yield merit Punyam to the Ladies, doing so at SRIRANGAM,

untold merit to the Donors. The Merit so accrued will satisfy the

hunger and thirsts

to Annadhanam. For this reason only Sri Paduka Sahasra Parayana

Ladies offering food to vedic scholars, bhagavathas and koil archakas

for the 8th year in succession at SRI AHOBHILA MUTT PREMISES, EAST

CHITRA STREET SRIRANGAM ON KAISIKA DHWADHASI.
