Guest guest
WITNESS MAHABALI peri AzhwAr's piLLaith thamizh is renowned. In the series of this childhood experiences cherished by periAzhwAr as enjoyed by yasOdhAp pirAtti, moon is being called for playing with Lord KrishNA. the moon doesnt turno up nearby and the pAsuram-"than mugathuch chutti" emerges periAzhwAr thiru mozhi 1-4 "siriyan enRu en ilanj singathai igazhEal kaNdAi, sirumaiyin vArthayai mAvali idai chenRu kEAL, sirumai pizhai koLLil nEyum vun thEvaikkuriayai kAN, niRai madhE! nedumAl viraindhunnaik kUvuginRAn" 1-4-8 Thse words are addressed to the moon. ' do not be indifferent towards the Lord's call because He appears too small. Go and enquire mahAbali what happened from the small form of vAmanan. srE vAmanan requested for just three feet of land, whcih was given to Him by mAvali who was ultimately stumped under the foot and caught for life.' The call to go and find out from mahAbali is to enunciate that do not go by form but by spirit behind the form. That is the witness of mahAbali from periAzhwAr. So many other events have been quoted, people recalled. For instance, in onRum dhEvum padhigam of thiru voi mozhi " pEsa ninRa sivanukkum, biraman thanakkum, piRarkum nAyakan avanE, kabAla nan mOkkathuk kaNdu konmin..." 4-10-4 Here the supremacy of the Lord is being explained and it is established here that for shivA and brahmA and for others He is the Lord. For this the episode of "kabAla nan mOkkam"is referred to where the experience of both shivA and brahmA are related. brahmA's one head was plucked by shivA because of which, shivAs's hand was stuck with kabAlam. shivA had to go on a begging spree to fill up the urn and lose it which became a futile task. Only the Lord had to fill it up from His chest and make it crash off from shivA's hand. Now a question is asked in Edu . A person who has lost his head -brahmA- cannot be a supreme being. A person who had to entreat cannot be supreme. Both had to experience the karma palam like normal human souls. Thus this episode of brahmA and shivA is alluded to here and perhaps they are summoned as witness. Despite, the recount of such witnesses, it should be understood that perhaps, these type of witness is requried for non-belivers. For us AzhwAr's words are supreme and nothing more. Our srEvaishNavic faith is based on primarly on AzhwAr's works. (concluded) dhAsan vanamamalai padmanabhan
