Guest guest
Dear devotees, thiru mangai mannan's vEal =weapon made the Lord's sakkaram as an ornament instead of a weapon. Since, AzhwAr took up the task of defence portfolio, the Lord's weapon had to adorn the Lord. Inter-alia, this is spelt in two of periya thiru mozhi pAsuram-s. 1. "mai ilangu malark kuvaLai marugalarum vayal Ali nei ilangu sudar Azhip padaiyAnai nedu mAlai, kai ilangu vER kaliyan kaNduraitha thamizh mAlai aiy iraNdum ivai vallARku aruvinaigaL adaiyAvE" thiru mozhi 3-6-10 Here ,bhattar correlates the words 'nei ilangu sudar Azhi and kai ilangu vER kaliyan' - ..avan kayil thiru vAzhi azhagukkudalAga irukkum ithanai; ivar kayil vEAl sathrunirasanathAlE kaRai kazhuva avasaraminRikkEa irukkumAyiRRu' The sakkaram in the Lord's divine hand is only adding beauty. The demolition of opponents is taken up by the weapon of AzhwAr. 2. Similarly, in 5-10-10 "...vuRai koL pugar Azhi , suri sangam avai angai vudaiyAnai" After the task of dealing with defiants is taken by thirumangai AzhwAr, the sakkar of the Lord had to rest in peace in its sheath. The fact is that thiru mangai AzhwAr has taken up the task of dealing with the opponents that the divine weapon gets rest. Akin to this, thiru mazhisaip pirAn also keeps ready his weapon handy always. Does not keep it inside the sheath unlike the Lord. Hence, termed as 'vuRaiyil idAdhavar'. Why is it so? Has he also taken up the task of demolishing the opponents? No. He is not from a warrior clan like kaliyan. By his knowledge of the vEdhAs and experience he takes up the task of defending the supremacy of the LOrd.There are so many aspects of the Lord. The supremacy, the auspicious qualities, the childhood details, the sermon of the Lord and so on and so forth. ThirumazhisaippirAn's pAsuram are all focussing onthe supremacy of the Lord. After thus discussing varios facets of the arguments he finally declares: "Now, I have understood the Lord of shivA and brahmA. Now, I have understood You the Lord. Now, I have understood that you are the cause and effect" The process of such understanding by various arguments, facts and analysis is bequeathed to us by AzhwAr himself in 'nAnmugan thiru vandhAdhi'. The commentary of periya vAchAn piLLai is given to us in a simple manner to eanble us to comprehend easily, by smt. SumithrA varadharAjan. It is an opportunity for us to capitalise on the subject and remove any trace of dhEvathAndhram from one's mind once and for all. thanks for lucid expressions. vanamamalai padmanabhan
