Guest guest
Dear SrI Raghavan: VaguLAbharaNan is the name of Swamy NammAzhwAr. He wears a VaguLa Pushpa Maalai of unfading fragrance. VaguLa BhUshanan , SaThAri Soori , SaThakOpan are the other names by which Swamy NammAzhwAr is adressed . The angitha nAmams by which he refers to HImself in His SrI Sookthis are : KuruhUr SaThakOpan , Thenn KuruhUr SaThakOpan , VaNN KuruhUr SaThakOpan , Mannu KuruhUr SaThakOpan , Vazhuthi VaLa Naadan KuruhaikkOn SaThakOpan Mali Puhazh VaNN KuruhUr SaThakOpan KuruhUr Nahar KaaRi MaaRan SaThakOpan TenkuruhUr MaaRan SaThakOpan The most direct reference to VaguLa Maalai worn by Him is seen in ThiruvAimozhi: 4.10.11: " aatccheythAzhip-pirAnai chErnthavan VaNN KuruhUr NaharAn NaaDDk-kamazh mahizh mAlai mArbhinan MaaRan SaThakOpan --" Here Swamy NammAzhwAr gives a complete description of Himself , His place of origin (birth) , His father 's name and who He is His Lord . Direct reference in His own words about the Mahizham Poo Maalai decorating His chest region is described as " NaaDDkkamazh mahizh maalai mArbinan " in the third line quoted above . In ThiruvAimozhi 5.8.11 , Swamy NammAzhwAr refers to as " Poom Pozhil Soozh KuruhUr SaThakOpan ". The reference is to KuruhUr with gardens having fragrant flowers. Now e knoow where the NaaDDkkamazh ( forever fragrant , VaadAtha maNam udaya ) Mahizhampoo came from . Those who have had the bhAgyam of smelling Mahizham Poo will never forget its persisitign fragrance . The fragrance of never-fading ThiruvAimozhi and other SrI Sookthis emanate from the VaguLa Pushpa Maalai. Guest guest
Dear SrImathi Ramanujam: There are two traditions in the nithya PaarAyaNam of Sundara KaaNDam (Saptha Sarga PaarAyaNam): 1) Reading 7 Sundara KANDa (SK) sargams per day routinely and turning s around makes the Saptha Sarga PaarAyaNam(SSP) complete . One reads the PattabhishEka sargam to complete one round of SSP . It takes 10 days for one round since there are 68 sargams in Sundara KaaNDam. The phalan for SSP is: All desire things are obtained as well as the destruction of the sins accumulated from hundreds of JanmAs.Niyamam , devotion to the Lord of AyOdhya are needed during such a PaarAyaNam. BhOjanam for those who are experts in VedAs at the end of each paarAyaNam is recommended or for BhagavAn at the temple.. 2) Pick individual chapters selected to meet one desired wish as indicated by the following examples: a) For elimination of poverty ( DhAridhriyam) , reading of the 15th Chapter dealing with HanumAn's sighting of SitA in AsOka Vanam . This is a very noble chapter for abhimAnis of SrImath RaamAyaNam. b) Reunion with relatives : 36th Sargam to be recited in the morning and evening . NaivEdhyam with fruits ( Palaa Pazham or Maampazham). c) for relief from bad dreams (DhOsha Saanthi): 27th Sargam for three days and NaivEdhyam of Sugar / Vellam. d) For removal of dhOshams from apachArams to Bhagavan: recitation of 38th Sargam . There a re individual sargams for Navagraha dhOsha saanthi. The ones who haev performed SaraNAgathy will not read these sargams for this purpose since Navagrahams recieve their power form SarvEswaran , SrIman NarAyaNan.
