Summary: The hindrances, obstacles and problmes are created by the defects plaguing this world. What are these defects? The disease which eat away the life, the hunger, enemity, and other bad things, all of which remove peace of mind and torment one and all. These are termed as 'dhEsa dhOsham' Similarly, the problems associated with certain period- kali kAlam--which make things varied from their normal sense and attribute and result in illusion and illiteracy. These are termed as 'kAla dhOsham'. How to escape from these deficiencies associated with the place and period which create a lasting negative impact? Approach and surrender unto the Lord Almighty without expecting anything quid-pro-quo -in exchange Who is this Lord Almighty? He is the prime-entity who has posted deities at various places akin to a king deputing his servants. "Oh!. souls all of you, out of ignorance approach these deities, who have been actually installed by the Lord. Approach this Lord Almighty who has assigned these posts to these deities.Out of your ignorance and shyness you are still acknowledging these deities as God. Hence, Surrender unto Him" is the ultimate advice by swAmi nam- AzhwAr. pAsuram-s: The dhEsa dhOsham-s mentioned above are : disease which torment and eat away the life, enemity, hunger and other bad effects. "konRu vuyir uNNum visAdhi, pagai, pasi, thEyana ellAm, ninRu ivvulagil kadivAn..."--> thiru voi mozhi 5-2-6; visAdhi-vyAdhi=disease; pagai-enemity; pasi=hunger; thEyana ellAm-- All bad things. The Lord will remove all these. "kaliyum kedum kaNdu koNmin"---> thiru voi mozhi 5-2-1--> The kAla dhOsham - The kali- will also be decimated by the Lord's Grace. To escape from the effects of these, surrender unto the Lord. "mEavith thozhudhu vuyminErgaL' ---> thiru voi mozhi 5-2-9---> Approach Him and survive. "niRuthinAn dheivangaLAga ath theiva nAyakan thAnEa"--thiru voi mozhi 5-2-8---> He is the Almighty who has posted smaller deities but oh! souls, you apporach these as the god. Only, the Lord Almighty can rescue. He has deputed these similar to a king assigning roles to his servants. "hence, oh! souls, realise that these are not god but smaller deities installed by the Lord Almighty. Surrender unto Him and get yourself rescued' is the counsel by swAmi nam-AzhwAr. He is the Lord of the Lords- dheiva nAyakan. (to be continued) vanamamalai padmanabhan
