The Seventh Ten Contd.

Why Am I kept in this World still? ivai enna visithirangaLEA!

"pazhaiya thanimaik kUppEdu thalai eduthu, sUzhavum pagai mugamseiyya,

eduppum sAippumAna klESam nadakka, upAyAdhikArOshamoyiya mAyangaL

seidhu vaitha vaichithriyaik kEatka.."

The longing and yearning which started in the beginning of this ten

-vuL nilAviya- relapsed to AzhwAr. AzhwAr started pining for the Lord

Almighty. AzhwAr invoked the Lord Almighty vociferously and

conspicuously by recalling Him as the creator of the world, meauring

the world, the Lord worshipped all the deities, the Lord who picked

up gOvardhanA hill and stalled the rainstorm etc.etc.

All these adjectives and adverbes became handy for AzhwAr in these ten

pAsuram-s "pAmaru mU vulagam" 7-6;

The features and image of the Lord Almighty surfaced in AzhwAr' mind

distinctly and vividly. Did it make AzhwAr happy? NO. Since, it again

remainded of the Almighty, the pain multiplied in geometric

progression. The divine eyes, nose, ears, mouth, eyebrows etc., all

surrounded AzhwAr and aggressively attacked his mind. These tormented

him -killing effect. Thus, the divine countenance of the Lord whcih

was subject to AzhwAr's vision now became a subject of his memory and

as a result of the intense longing, accentuated the yearning for the

God.

Thus, the experience of pain which commenced in the first

thriu-voi-mozhi of this ten, aggravated in the second and third but

was assuaged by the Lord in the 4th-Azhi ezha and 5th kaRpAr.

However, the problem relapsed in "pAmaru" and "yEAzhair Avi vUNNum".

The pain and pleasure fluctuated like a pendulum.

AzhwAr went into an intorspection. He had clasped the Lord as the

means. The Lord has immense knowledge and shakthi-which was seen

earlier also- to grant the salvation. Similarly, Azhwar had declared

the Lord as the only refuge- ananya gadhithvam and empty

handedness-Akinchanyam. Both of them did not have any deficiency on

their part. To sum up, The Lord Almighty has all the knowledge and

power and AzhwAr had deemed and followed the Lord as the only refuge

and declared his emptiness. The salvation should have ensued

automatically. Hence, AzhwAr asked the Lord " Despite the

aforementioned facts, why am I kept in this horrid world of births

and deaths resulting in pain and despair?What is this paradox? 'ivai

enna visithirangaLEA!

pAsuram-s

A.The relapseof the Longingness of AzhwAr for the Lord made him call for Him:

the thiru-voi-mozhi "pAmaru mUvulagam" elaborates on this aspect.

'pAmaru mUvulagum padaitha-aLandha' 7-6-1---> Calling the Lord who

created and measured the World.

'malai yEandhi kal mAri thannai'7-5-3--> The rescue of one and all

from the hailstorm/rainstorm -gOvardhana giri.

'..anRu ilangai kadandhu pilambu koLippa' --7-6-8--> the Lord who had conqured lankA.

'.. Ayar kulathu ERRiLam piLLai onRAi pukku, mAyangaLE

iyaRRi'-7-6-10--> The Lord krishNA's deeds are recalled.

B. The beauty and the form of the Lord and His features surfaced in AzhwAr's mind.

' yEzhaiyar Avi vuNNum iNaik kURRam kolO' thiru voi mozhi.

'yEzhaiyar Avi vuNNum iNaik kURRam kolO-Azhi am kaNNa pirAn

thirukkaNgaL kolO-sUzhavum nAnmarai thAmarai pOle vandhu thOndRum

kaNdEr'---> The features of the Lord Almighty and the countenance

tortures AzhwAr like missiles--7-7-1;

'..vENNai vuNdAn thiru mUkku'--> 7-7-2-The divine nose of AzhwAr fills up the mind of AzhwAr.

'..ammAn thondai vAi'--7-7-3---Divine mouth of the Lord.

'paividath pAmbaNaiyAn thirukkundalak kAdhugaLEa'-7-7-5-->the divine ears of the Almighty.

C. AzhwAr should have collapsed in the longing for the Almighty.

Intrspection revealed that there was no problem with the saviour -

either in knowledge or power- nor deficiency with Azhwar.The surprise

then was AzhwAr still in this world. The Lord's wonderful acts and the

questions follow.

Wonderful Acts.

'mAyA -vAmananEa-madhu sUdhA'-7-8-1;

"thingaLum gnAyirumAi, sezhum pal sudarAi irulAi...iva enna

visithirAmEA?' You are all . what a wonder -7-8-2;

"enna iyaRkaigaLAl enganEa ninRittAi? en kaNNA? thunnu kara saraNam

mudhalAga ellA vuruppum---7-8-10-->What a wonder You have granted

everything for the soul.

Why Am I kept in this World still? ivai enna visithirangaLEA
