Guest guest
AchArya Hrdhayam SUthram 226-4 THE EIGHTH TEN AzhwAr's qualtiies likened to that of sEthAp pirAtti "janma pAsam vittu AthvAram ALum ALAr enRu parindhu anurUpanODEa amarndhu pirivil krupaNadhasaiyAgath thuvarum sEthA guNangaLalEa prEthi vardithu" AzhwAr's qualities/characteristics in different circumstances are likened to sEthAp pirAtti. What are these circumstances? When sEthAp pirAtti left mithilA after wedding sri rAmA,she never thought of mithilApuri. Similarly, AzhwAr never had the smell of the worldly attachments after having surrendered unto the divine feet of the Lord Almighty. sEthAp pirAtti on seeing the beauty of sri rAmA, made mangaLA sAsanam.Likewise,Azhwar appreciated the beauty of the Lord and in fact became very compassionate towards Him. However, after seeing the valour of sri rAmA sEthA pirAtti fear arising out of His beatuy was allayed. Similiarly, having recalled about His valiant deeds AzhwAr fear was also eradicated. When sEthAp pirAtt was separated from sri rAmA, sEthAp pirAtti reached a stage where even the most compassionless would become symaptetic. Akin to this, AzhwAr when being separated from the Lord, AzhwAr yearning for Him, was looking in all directions, his eyes becoming sore and mouth dry, calling again and again evoking symathy from one and all. Thus, sEthA pirAtti's characteristics and AzhwAr's are likened. pAsuram-s: "pAdham adaivadhan pAsathAlEa maRRa van pAsangaL muRRa vittu"--8-2-11-->The attachments other than the Lord are completely left out. "ALum ALAr Azhiyum sangum sumappAr thAm, vALum villum koNdu pin selvAr maRRu illai"-->8-3-3--> Oh! the Lord do not have anbody to take the bow and spear and follow Him.What a pity, He has to take the burden Himself. The soft physique of the Lord will get affected" is AzhwAr's feelings. "vAr kadAvaruvi" the thiru voi mozhi 8-4--> lists out the valiant deeds of the Lord Almighty. The vanqusihing of kamsA, the demolition of wrestlers, the conquer of the elephant, the deed of churning the ocean, the rescuing and measuring the earth etc. These deeds allayed the fears of AzhwAr and settled with peace of mind and enjoyed the Lord with peace of mind. 'kANa vArAi enRu kaNNum vAyum thuvarndhu"--8-5-2--> AzhwAr reached a state where even the most compassionless would become sympathetic. The mouth became dry and eyes sore. he was looking in all the directions of the Lord. Even when he saw the crowd of clouds it would remind him of the Lord. Thus all these features are drawn parallel with that of sEthAp pirAtti AzhwAr's qualtiies likened to that of sEthAp pirAtti (to be continued) vanamamalai padmanabhan
