Guest guest
Dear Raama BhakthAs : Let us continue with the 2nd and 3rd charaNams in this posting. Second CharaNam ********************** Mudhumuna dhana-tanayAgAramulu joovi madhumchEtha kOnnALLU andhu chEdharina yantha sOkArNava gathudai jaali-jEndhuDayu kOnnALLu yEdhaDi paccha joochi tALalEka thaa nilanu dhiruguDa kOnnALLu mudhi madhi dhappina vruddhatanamuchE mundhu vEnaka theliyakayE kOnnALLu ( prOddhu pOyyEnu , SrIrAmuni bhUni bhajimpavE manasA ! ) (Meaning): Some portions of life is wasted in boasting about one's riches like house , garden , offsprings and other aspects of material wealth. Those thoughts get one's head swollen with sense of power and control over one's destiny. A day comes ,when these wealth are lost and then one's time is spent in moaning over "the insufferable " losses sustained . Disappointment and sorrow follows and more time is lost soaked in such thoughts of sespondency. Some portion of life is spent in moods of jealousy over the material success of neighbors and friends. Those fits of jealousy connected to Moham and Maathsaryam eat up portions of one's life. Then comes old age along with its robbing of one's senelity . Portion of the end of the days are spent in despairing over failing limbs and mental faculty .Time is fleeting and the tide of life is fast ebbing away . Oh My Mind ! Hurry to worship Lord Raamachandra , who is an antidote for all these sorrows and abuse of time alloted to you on this earth ! Third CharaNam ******************** yaagAdhi karmamulanu jEyavalEnanu yalasaDachEtha kOnnALLu andhu raaga lObhamulathO naparAdhamula jEsi rAjasamuna kOnnALLu BhAguga nAma-keertthanamulu sEyuDE bhAgyamanaka kOnnALLu ThyAgarAjanuthuDaina SrIrAmuni tathtvamu telipakayE kOnnALLu (prOddhu pOyyEnu , SrIrAmuni bhUni bhajimpavE manasA ! ) Some portions of life is spent in efforts to perform YaagAs and other rituals prescribed in the karma khANDa portion of the VedAs for svayam prayOjanam . During such efforts , greed , miserliness cloud the efforts due to raajasic pre-disposition . Fruits are not realized.Mental peace is not attained . Sorrow , doubt and restlessness folow suit.Portions of one's life are spent in such efforts . Most of the people spend their alloted time on the Lord's earth ( LeelA VibhUthi) without realizing the sukham and power of doing Naama sankeerthanam ( of Your sarva phal dhAyaka nAmam). They do not relaize that itself is the loftiest of wealth in thi world . It is a pity that they wallow in all kinds of self-inflicted injuries and spend away their lives without knowing the real nature of SrI Raama and His Tatthvams that he stands for . Oh My mind ! Please do not be like others in chasing anithya vasthus and suffer the pangs of jealousy , despair and despondency ! Instead worship Lord Raamachandran , the apramEyan and gain nithya sukham ( lasting bliss) ! Additional observations *************************** Saint ThyagarAjA , the great Raama Bhakthar is beseeching us to perform Raama Naama Sankeerthanam ( BhAguga Naama keerthanamulu sEyuDE ) and gain the understanding of the SrI Raama Tathvam ( SaraNAgatha rakshaNam) . ThyAgarAja SwamigaL was an exemplar in conducting his life steeped in Raama Naama Japam and Sankeerthanam about SrI Raama MahAthmyam . His upadEsams about the transitory nature of Prapancha sukham in contrast to the lasting nature of worship of Raamaa in his own words attest to his concern for us to gain the naugraham of the Lord of AyOddhi : " Bhaja rE Raghuveeram Sara-bharitha DasaraTa kumAram" --KalyANi Raagam Here , SwamigaL appeals to us: " Worship the hero of Raghus , the king of kings, who has blessed Thyagarja with boons ! Give up greed and unworthy desires . Do not indulge in slander of others ... control Your five senses , deeming worldly happiness as nothing but poison. Understand that all things will not serve your purpose , but go their own way " We will continue with ThyagarAja SWamigaL's upadEsam and appeal in the next posting .
