Guest guest
Hi: Can anyone please let me know the form of Sri Lakshmi Devi on Lord's (Thirupathi) Chest, the reason for asking is ,we here need to prepare her for our Venkateswara Swamy and we have a doubt whether SriDevi is with two hands holding lotus (or) with four hands of Abhaya Pose.If there are any scriptures about this for reference please let me know. Thank you, Prem
Guest guest
Dear Sri Prem Kumar : I have a Sandal paste impression of Vakshasthala Lakshmi of Thirumalai SrInivAsan taken soon after PerumAL's Thirumanjanam on a Friday . The size of Vakshasthala Lakshmi is small as you know . Looking with a magnifier glass , it appears that our Mother sports 4 hands . The upper Two hands have lotuses and the other two hands have abhaya , Varadha MudhrAs as SrI Padmaavathi ThAyAr at ThirucchAnoor. Other knowledgable people from Thiruppathi particularly are invited to comment . By the way , are you commissioning a vigraham of Lord SrinivAsa for home or temple worship ? If so please send me a private mail on the Sthapathi since a dear friend wants a vigraham of 6-7 inches height of Lord SrInivaasan for his poojA graham. I am also looking for some one who lives at or near KumbakONam to identify a silpi there known for PanchalOga vigraham construction for the temples and homes . Thanks for your help , V.Sadagopan - "somguy2002" <premmkumar <Oppiliappan> Friday, March 12, 2004 11:45 PM Sri Lakhmi's form on Lord's Chest > Hi: > > Can anyone please let me know the form of Sri Lakshmi Devi on Lord's > (Thirupathi) Chest, the reason for asking is ,we here need to prepare > her for our Venkateswara Swamy and we have a doubt whether SriDevi > is with two hands holding lotus (or) with four hands of Abhaya > Pose.If there are any scriptures about this for reference please let > me know. > > Thank you, > Prem > > > > > > Links > > > > > >
Guest guest
Swamin, I heard that the vigraha worshipped at home should not be more than the thumb height . Is this correct ? Then 6 or 7 inches may not be appripriate . With regards S.Soundararajan Dear SrI Soundararajan: Many of the vigrahAs worshipped at home by our poorvAchAryAs are 3to 6 inches high . You can see some of them at VeLLI MaNDapam at Ahobila Matam and at ParakAla matam and elsewhere. There is no sAstraic restriction on the heights except handling during Thirumanjanam and other activities requiring lifting of the Vigrahams .
