AchArya Hrdhayam 184

sUthram 227-4.

The ninth Ten.

Single Minded Devotgion of AzhwAr- kavaiyil manam inRi.

"yEgameNNik,kANak karudhi, ezha nanni ninaidhoRum vurugiyalaRRi, kavaiyil manam inRi..."

The state of AzhwAr's mind is described here.

The one and only mindset of AzhwAr is to reach the Lord's abode and

he is thinking of this in all times -without discerning day or night.

Further, what does AzhwAr want? he wants the vision of 'The Lord with periya pirAtti'

AzhwAr is reminded of the Almighty when he sees anything which provokes him to finish off himself.

What does one need to experience the Lord and His qualities? The mind is indispensable. However,

the mind of the AzhwAr melts. When does it melt? Does it melt when He

sees the Lord Almighty or does it melt when he talks about Him? It

melts when he just thinks about the Lord Almighty - When he thinks

about His auspicious quailities of mixing up with one and all

liberally.

The aforementioned state of affairs depreciates into a stage where

AzhwAr sends emissaries in the form of birds to the Lord instead of

watiing for HIm.

Thus, the mind of the AzhwAr is set steadfast, unequivocally in an

unified manner and without any doubts or double mind to achieve this

end.

pAsuram-s

AzhwAr always contemplating on the Lord's abode

The thiru voi mozhi 'OrAyiramAi' 9-3 reflects this mindset and the

following pAsuram highlights this aspect.

"mAga vaikuntham kANbadhaRku, en manam yEagam eNNum irap pagal inRiyEa" --- 9-3-7;

AzhwAr desires to have the divine sight of 'The Almighty with His consort'

This is the thiru voi mohzi 'maiyAr karum kaNNi' 9-4; The pAsuram describing this aspect is

"kANak karudhum en kaNNEA' 9-4-1;

AzhwAr gets pains as he is reminded of the Lord when he sees anything.

This is "innuyir sEvalum" 9-5 and the

pAsuram is

'ezha nanni nAmum nam vAna nAdanOdu onRinOAm' 9-5-10;

AzhwAr's mind melts even when he thinks of the Lord. This is the

thiruvoi mozhi "vurugu mAl nenjam" 9-6

'vurugu mAl nenjam, vuyirin paramanRi , perugu mAl vEtkai' The desire

is very big and disproportionate to

that of the soul;9-6-1;

'ninai dhoRum sollum dhorum nenjam idindhu vugum' ---9-6-2--The mind

of AzhwAr melts even when he contemplates the Lord.

AzhwAr sends emissaries in "engAnal agam kazhivAi' thiru voi mozhi 9-7

Who are all sent? Several birds like nArai, kokku , kurugu, kiLi and so on.

"thamarOdu angu vuRaivArku thakkiLamEa kEALErgaL' 9-7-2---Ask Him who

resides there with His people is the request by AzhwAr to the

ambassadors.

The state of affaris reach a stage where these messengers are sent

instaed of waiting for the Almighty.

This is beacuase AzhwAr has single minded devotion, a mind without

hesitation, A state without two minds which is described aptly as

'kavaiyil manam inRi' 9-8-3n the 'aRukkum vinaiyAina' thiru voi mohzi.

Single Minded Devotgion of AzhwAr- kavaiyil manam inRi.
