Today was an auspicous day ! The SrI BhAshya KaalakshEpam

classes of SrImAn RaajagOpaala Bhattar and the Prabhandham classes

by SrI Varada Bhattar comenced at the SRI RanganAtha Temple .

 

THESE CLASSES WILL CONTINUE TOMORROW BETWEEN 4 AND 6 P.M;

EVERY WEEK END ON SATURDAY & SUNDAY, THE SERIES

WILL CONTINUE AT THE SAME TIME .PLEASE REFER TO

THE TELEBRIDGE NUMBER AND PASSWORD BELOW .

THEY ARE THE SAME AS of TODAY.PLEASE JOIN AND INVITE

The Brahma SoothrAs by BadarAyaNa ( VyAsa BhagavAn)

and its commentary along the lines of BodhAyana Vrutthi were

not handled in Their entirety by Swamy Naatha Muni and His grandson

Swamy AaLavanthAr. The reason has been given that the crucial

BodhAyana Vrutthi was not available to both of them SINCE it was

located at far away Kashmir , where access to it was jealously guarded

at the Sarasvathi temple. In fulfilment of the vow that AchArya

RaaamAnujA made to Swamy AaLavanthAr after His ascent

to Parama Padham , AchArya RaamAnujaa made the trip to

Kashmir with KurEsar and in the limited time he was allowed to

access the BodhAyana vrutthi , he imprinted the content in

His mind and wrote the SrI BhAshyam . AchArya RaamAnuja

followed a very ancient and authoritative tradition of commentary

that inclued Tanka , Dhramida BhAshyakAra , BodhAyana in

particular .

 

BodhAyana 's vritthi is considered very close in time to BaadarAyaNa ,

BodhAyana was sepearated in time from SoothrakArar BadarAyaNa

(Sage VyAsaa) by only one AchArya in between.Thus it was important

for any serious commentator to be familiar with BodhAyana Vritthi to write

an authoritative commentary on Brahma/BaadharAyaNa SoothrAs.

Goddess Saraswathi recognized the brilliance of AchArya RaamAnujA's

commentary and named it appropriately as "SrI BhAshyam " .

 

For most of us not having the familiarity with the noble Sanskrit

language , and SaasthrAs like MeemAmsam ( Poorva and Utthara

MeemAmsam forming one integral unit ) , VyAkaraNam and

the VaishNava Aaagamams , it is a grand opportunity to learn

SrI BhAshyam from one like Sri RaajagOpAla Bhattar , who

has been trained in the roigorous traditions of AhObila Matam

Schools at MadhurAnthakam founded by HH the 42nd Jeeyar

InjimEttu Azhagiya Singar ) in 1942.

 

We had an illuminating session today with the introductions to

the two MangaLa slOkams of SrI BhAshyam . The pravachana

sakthi of Srimad U.Ve.RaajagOpAla Bhattar is fully evident in

the first class today. This is a taste of the feast that is yet to

be enjoyed by us.

 

SrI RaajagOpAla Bhattar was followed by SrI Varada Bhattar of

ThiruviNnagar , who had santhai on selected dhivya Prabhandhams,

SrI Varada Bhattar is a PoorNAdhyAyi of Dhivya Prabhandham and

Yajur Vedam besides being an expert PurOhithar.

 

We at SrI RanganAtha Temple are fortunate to have these outstanding

Bhatars in our midst to perform AarAdhanam for Lord RanganAthA

daily. Please visit the temple and also join in the KaalashEpams and

Santhai classes every weekend .
