SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah:

Dearest Srivaishnavas,

Paraththilum paraththaiyaadhi powavaneeraNaikkidanthu

Uraththilum oruththithannai vaiththu uganthathanRiyum

Naraththilum piRaththi nAThA! jnAnamoorththi yaayinaay

Oruththarum ninaathu thanmai innathenna vallarE!

(29)

On nAthA! My Master! You are higher than the

jeevAthmAs- who are above Prakruthi (Matter)[as the

chEthanan is above the achEthanAs]! Even then, You

came down [from Paramapadham- the Grandest place] to

Milky Ocean in Prakruthi maNdalam (paaRkadal] and

reclined on AdishEshan [due to Your sowlabhyam and

bless the Devas from there! At all times- You are with

Periya PiraaTTi- the unparalleled One-in Your divine

Chest as You both are inseparable ones- and enjoyed

being associated with her always! Even after all that

(in spite of PoornAnandham), You appeared (due to

greatest sowseelyam and sowlabhyam) out of human

bodies and were born as Rama, Krishna and others.

What an Ascharyam! Oh jnAnaswarUpI! Who can utter the

greatness of Yours as it is like this or that sort!

[None can ever.]

aksharAtha para: - The jeevAthmAs are grander and

greater than Prakruthi (matter); You- the Lord – are

the grandest and greatest of all! mattha: paratharam

naanyath; There is none above or equal to You; aksharE

paramE; paramE vyOman; thamasa: parasthAth; - You

exist as jyOthiswarUpi in Dhivya mangaLa vigaraham in

Paramapadham and due to your bhaktha vaathsalyam,

stooped down to prajruthi (matter) for the sake of

Devas and reclined on paaRkadal (milky ocean);

Even then, the beings are scared of Your Superior

Lordship and may not face You and hence You have the

Divine consort who is the most compassionate and most

merciful- and perform the mediator role; Hence you

house her always in your divine Chest – what a

compassion of Yours!

Even then, it is only for Devas and humans are not

able to get benefited and hence You appeared in lowly

dirty human bodies! What an ocean of kaaruNyam! Not

only do you destroy the evil and establish dharma, You

also teach vedic doctrines and instruct esoteric

truths during such avathArams! You are

avyAjavathsalan. Who can describe Your such greatness

and dayA! None.

Uratthilum orutthi thannai- the um (there with

uratthil- meaning chest) – Periyavaacchaan Pillai

says: SwaroopaantharbhAvam is described. Not only in

Dhivya Athma swarUpam PiraaTTi is with Him; also in

Dhivya mangala Vigraham (ThirumEni); thAnyAahu:

svairanurupa rupa vibhavai: Gaadhopa gutaanidhE “ -

says AlavandhAr in ChathuslOkI. ChauthslOkI is a

wonderful work by Alavandhar in four slokas-

describing the greatness of PiraaTTi.

In Chathussloki ( poem of four verses ) ,

YaamunA focussed on the theme of Purushakaara

Prapatthi and Eka Seshithvam principles . He based

this work of his on the doctrines outlined

by Lakshmi Tantram . Eka Seshitvam refers to the

practise of considering both Sri Devi and BhagavAn

together as the means and the goal (upAyam and Upeyam

). In this context, they are inseparable and hence She

is known as VishNu Patnee and He is known as Sriman

NArAyaNan.

In the majestic fourth slokam of ChathuslOkI starting

with the assembly of well-chosen words ripe with

profound meanings "SaanthaanandaMahaa Vibhuthi Paramam

Yadh Brahma Rupam Hare: --" and ends dramatically

with the words as given above Aahu: svairanurupa rupa

vibhavai: Gaadhopa gutaanidhE ".

YaamunA asserts here that Sri Devi's Rupams and GuNAs

are tightly bonded together with that of Her Lord in

an inseparable manner. Whenever He assumes Vyuha

-Vibhava - Haartha-Archaa rupaas , She takes the

appropriate rupams and is tightly united with Him as

Nithya anapAyini. Thus they demonstrate Eka Seshitvam

and become UpAyam and Upeyam to us all. Thus

ParamAthmaswarUpam is mixed with PiraaTTi’s

Purushaakaara (Recommendatory) DhivyAthmaswarUpam due

to Their compassion on us. Thus the two vibhUs are

intertwined everywhere; in all forms; And the Lord

also did it in Dhiva rUpam also in addition to Dhivya

Athma swarUpam (hence um- says Periyavaacchaan PiLLai)

Naratthilum piRatthi- jnAnamUrthiyaayinaay- Even

during Rama Krishna avathAram- You preached and

taught.

Or it can also mean or be interpreted to read that- He

taught and declared the SaranAgatha rakshaNam quite

unambiguously and categorically. OR He also appeared

as human forms (SadAchAryas like Ramanuja, Alavandhar

and Swamy desikan and others – including the

compassionate present day Acharyas). Such greatness of

the Lord’s- Yours- can anyone utter fully! None can

utter. [oruttharum vallarE..]
