Let us now enjoy how kaliyan has followed the footsteps of nammazhvar. You may all question, “Why is this sudden diversion when all along this series there was only a comparison of words of geethacharyan and kaliyan?” Actually this is no diversion from the actual topic. GeethAcharyan in his 10th chapter “Vibhoothi yOgam” as per the request of arjuna talks in detail about his vibhoothi (greatness-svamAhAtmyam) but before beginning, Krishna warned arjuna that it is not possible for even the lord himself to tell his greatnesses in full as there is no limit to the same. Following the footsteps of geethAcharyan nammazhvar wonders, “What shall I say about that supreme lord!” in the third centum 4th decade of thiruvAimozhi. This is a padhigam that has to be surely enjoyed and hence adiyen is adding this at this point. “pugazhum nal oruvanenkO? poruvil seer bhoomi enkO? tigazhum thaN paravai enkO? teeyenkO? vAyuenkO? nigazhum AkAsamenkO? neelsudar erandum enkO? egazhvil evvanaiththumenkO? kannanai koovumArE” (3-4-1) Nammazhvar - pugazhum nal oruvanenkO? poruvil seer bhoomi enkO? tigazhum thaN paravai enkO? teeyenkO? vAyuenkO? nigazhum AkAsamenkO? Kaliyan summarizes the same as – bhoodham IyindhAi Nammazhvar - neelsudar erandum enkO? Kaliyan – punaluruvAi analuruvil “sAdhimAnikkamenkO? savikoLpon muththamenkO? sAdhinal vayiramenkO? tavivilseer vilakkamenkO? AdhiyansOdhi enkO? AdhiyempurudanenkO? AdhumilkAlaththendhai achchudhan amalanaiyE” (3-4-4) Nammazhvar - sAdhimAnikkamenkO? savikoLpon muththamenkO? sAdhinal vayiramenkO? Kaliyan – ponnuruvAi maNiyuruvil Nammazhvar - AdhiyansOdhi enkO? Kaliyan – thigazhum sOdhi? Nammazhvar – AdhumilkAlathth endhai Kaliyan – ennuruvil nindra endhai What a great reflection of words and ideas and that is why thondaradipodi azhvar declares that all of them belong to one clan “pEsittrE pEsalallAl”. If they repeat the same won’t “punarukthi dOsham or the mistake of copying others words” arise? No. This is no error when it comes to talking the greatness of emperuman as it is the truth, fact and has to be repeated. How many ever bhakthas may come even in the future no one can change these at any time. We have no other go than to repeat what our poorvacharyas have given, the great treasure we possess. Nammazhvar followed geethacharyan (sastras), kaliyan followed nammazhvar, our acharyas followed the words of kaliyan (all the azhvars), and we have to follow our acharyas. The same chain follows while attaining the result too. We follow our acharyas, they follow their acharya who followed the azhvars – nammazhvar- vishvaksenar-periya pirattiyar-periya perumal and we all will finally land in the great land of nithyAnubhavam, the nithya soori mandalam, paramapadam. We will enjoy more of kaliyan’s words along the footsteps of geethacharyan in the forth-coming postings. Here is Swamy manavala mAmunikal's mangalasasanam to our dear thirumangai mannan, "vurai kazhiththa vAlai oththa vizhi madandhai mAdarmEl vurugavaiththa manamozhiththu evvulagalandha nambimEl kuraiyai vaiththu madaleduththa kurayalAli thirumaNam kollaithannil vazhipariththa kuttramattra senkaiyAn maraiyuraiththa mandiraththai mAluraikka avanmunE madiyodikki manamadakki vAipudaiththu onnalAr karaikuliththa vElaNaiththu nindra endha nilaimai en kaNNai vittu agandridAdhu kaliyanAnai ANaiyE" Thirumangai azhvar did 'vazhipari kollai' but mAmunikal says he is "kuttramattra senkaiyAn" (flawless) Why? Because he did 'vazhi pari' for the sake of bhagavata dhadheeyArAdhanam. So swamy feels for bhagavat/bhAgavata kainkaryam even threatening and getting from those who have wealth is not a mistake. Ofcourse only two people had the courage to take others money for kainkaryam one is thirumangai azhvar and other badrachala ramadas, a great bhaktha of rama who rebuilt the temple of badrachalam with the tax money that had to originally go to the muslim king.
