Recitation Contest for Children / Student – (6th year)

(Between 3 years and 25 years)

Subject : Sri Desika Stotra Padangal.

Started in 1999 by U.Ve., Venkatkanumalla Swami (U.S.A). During

its 5 year existence, this contest has given opportunity to 830

students.of whom 73 in 2003 recited 200 Slokas from 10 Stotra Padams.

They were given Silver Tumbler and Silver Kuthuvilaku as a token of

appreciation of their interest and devotees. The remaining 757

participation were given consolation prizes, this is up to 2003.

This year in the Desikan Sannadhi in Srirengaraja Veedhi at

Kanchipuram, under the presidency of Sri U.Ve., Seema Bhattar, Sri

U.Ve.,Echambadi Swami, the contest is to take place. There 32

Contestant well versed in 300 Slokas from 15 Stotra padams have been

enrolled for the contest, for this year.It is proposed to give them

Scholarship of Rs.2000/- each. There are 24 students versed in 5

Stotra padas (100 Slokas). It is prposed to give them Silver Tumbler.

We hope we will get the support Sri bagavathas devotee with the divine grace of the supreme almighty

Note:

556 students from Three Schools, belonging to other varnas,

are learning Stotrapadas.They are provided with School Uniform every

year.

Rules:

1. All irrespective of caste creed and community can join in this contest.

2. Age limit Should be between 3 to 25 years.

3. Even those who know just one slokas can participate.

4. Those who can recite 100 slokas from 5 stotra padam will be

given Silver Tumbler.

5. Those who can recite 200 slokas from 10 stotra padam will be

given Silver Kuthuvilaku.

6. Those who can recite 300 slokas from 15-stotra padam will be

given a cash award of Rs.2000/-.

7. Those who can recite all the 25 Stotra padas will be given Rs.10000/-, each.

Our sabha are Encouraging the students to participate in this Contest,

So, Parents and elders should involve and make prepare the students to

participate in this contest.

This contest has been conducted over the past 5 years in the places

like SriRangam,Chennai, Kanchipuram,Delhi and Thiruvahindirapuram.The

Participant (till 2003)

7014 Students = Consolation Prizes

636 Students = Silver Tumbler

283 Students = Silver Kuthuvilaku

67 Students = Rs.2000/-. Cash Award.(which is distributed by Sri

H.H. Poundarigapuram Andavan Swamigal, 45th Jeeyar

Swamigal and Sri U.Ve. ANC swamigal srirangam..)

On the Whole, during the past 5 years more than 8000 students have

been benefited by this scheme started and supported by U.Ve.,

Venkatkanumalla Swami (U.S.A).
