(63) Oh Master of all! Devaadhi Devaa! ParadEvathA! The Supreme One! The One who enters into the mind and efforts of great yogins, [who are steadfast in their mediation and their sadhana following yama, niyama, etc.. and perform bhakti yoga] and remove their sins and hurdles on their path towards the end! You have mercifully shown Yourself (on Your own accord) at the divya desam of Thiruppaadkam, where long palatial houses are like the huge mountains; at Thiruvooragam – standing there majestically and at Thiruve:kaa reclining like the dam! What a sowlabhya, sowseelya guNA of yours! AzhwAr was enjoying the divya desams one by one- ThiruvEmkatam, Thiruvarangam and then Thirukkudanthai individually. Now at Thirukkacchi AzhwAr enjoys these wonderful divya desam forms in one verse itself so divinely. You, the one who is eternally at Paramapadham along with eternal blemishless NithyasUris therein, are the same one who compassionately and mercifully stays at the heart and mind, efforts of the rishis and yogins who, after suffering in various births in samsaaric affliction, attempts to adhere to the saashthras and follow yama, niyama, etc.. and cross karma, jnAna yoga, involve themselves in bhakti yoga. You being pleased with their efforts (which are also due to your mercy and daya), reside with greatest sowlabhyam, in their hearts permanently and bless them with great anubhavam. That itself is Your stooping down to their level and your sowseelyam. [neermai] When such is the case, there are these human beings who are caught terribly in material pursuits, amassing wealth, build their houses like the huge mountains – in and around the temple of this Paadakam, oorarakam, and ve:kaa, and You have mercifully show Yourself there to bless even those riches - blessing them with your divine dhivya mangaLa vigraham thus enabling their paapams to get burnt… in the process (with the darshan) and then putting them on track…. Paadagatthu- Paadakam- Thiruppadagam- This is Paandavadhoothan sannidhi. When KaNNan appeared as the messenger from Paandavas (Yudhishta, Bhima arjuna, nakula and sahadeva- five paandavas) to come to the assembly of Dhuryodhanan to seek some land for the paandavas, and avoid the battle. When Duryodhanan had heard about his coming, he arranged a rathnAsanam (chair made of gem stones with silk soft cloth on top) which- when sitting would drop down to the basement (paathaLa) – below the assembly- where there were Duryodhana’s men were waiting to kill KaNNan. KaNNan- Sarvagnan – Omniscient- knew all of this plan and while sitting took huge viswarUpam – grandest form- thereby –even if the chair falls down, He does not and His feet touch the basement crushing the men waiting to kill… KaNNan thus crushed the plan of DuryOdhanan and this viswarUpan shows Himself in that form of PaaNdava dhoothan in this divya desam of Paadakam. The basement (paadakam) has thus become an ornament for His feet and hence paadkam. OR paadu + agam= paadgam. Where His grandness is vivid and manifests here and hence paadgam. Oor +agam= Ooragam. Oor means- ulagam- world. He houses Himself in the world and took huge Thrivikrama avathAram- measuring the whole world. Hence in this dhivya Desam, He shows Himself as ulagaLandha perumAn- Lord who measures the Universe- Thrivikraman. Also in this dhivya Desam, He shows Himself [prathyaksham] to AdhisEshan- uragam. Hence uragam (ooragam). Ve:kaa- Thiruve:kaa- For the prayer of asurAs, Sarasvathi came angrily as Vegavathi river with tremendous current to destroy yaagam that was conducted and performed by Chathurmukha BrahmA. BrahmA and other Devas surrendered to the Lord to save them from the onslaught by the river, the merciful Lord immediately reclined then and there as the Dam across the river to prevent the same from flowing further. YathOthkaari perumAL. This Vegavathi + aNai (dam) is veggiNai- veggaNai and thus has become veggaa… ve:kaa. [This is the same Lord who listened to Thirumazhisai AzhwAr when he and his sishya kaNikaNNan walked out of this place and the Lord obeyed- read AzhwAr’s life history] Swamy Desikan mentions the same in VegAsEthu sthOthram- vEgAsEthurjayathi vipulO viswarakshaikahEthu: Thirumazhisai Piraan ThiruvaDigaLE SaraNam Regards Namo narayana dAsan SBC - Internet access at a great low price. http://promo./sbc/
