Guest guest
SrI: SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah: Dearest Srivaishnavas Sriya: Pathi alone is Parathvam; without His grace, anugraham, it is impossible for getting mOksham. Hence, why should you take refuge at Sivan who ran along with agni and his sons during the battle of bANAsuraa? One can get wealth and other fruits from demi gods? Why can’t we do that?- one may ask. AzhwAr responds: aRinthu aRinthu vaamanana diyaNaiva Nankinaal, seRinthezhuntha NYaanamOdu selvamumsi Ranthidum, maRinthezhuntha theNdiraiyuL mannumaalai vaazhththinaal, paRinthezhunthu theevinaikaL paRRaRuthal paanmaiyE. (74) aRindhu aRindhu- the fruits and the granter of such fruits is emperumAn alone- even if obtained from demi gods, it is He who grants the fruits through them, being the antharyaami (in dweller) of those demi gods; Thus He alone is direct or indirect means to grant fruits- realizing and knowing that, taking refuge at the lotus feet of Vaamanan and pray to Him, He grants us the Supreme jnAnam of the Supreme mOksham and the Lordship with sakala saasthrArtthams along with the wealth that is required for sustenance; if we sing in praise of the glories of Sriman Narayanan who resides permanently in noisy, wavy, Milky ocean, it is natural that all our most cruel, karmic diseases (paapams) will be automatically disengaged from us and run away from us. If you are looking for material wealth, jnAnam etc., and pray to Sankara, Agni, et al, you would get them (there is a statement to that effect as well), they are able to grant you the same only due to the grace of Sriman Narayanan and Him being in the indweller in them granting through them. Even if you pray to EmperumAn Sriman Narayana directly, you would still get the same; In addition, he also grants you further more jnAnam about what is the highest goal, how to reach the same etc.. with sakala saasthrArttha jnAnam. The way He grants us fruits- it keeps growing; it makes us more sattva gunA; it slowly detaches us from material fruits and desires,. That is the difference between getting materials from him and from demi gods. Vaamanan is the saakshi for this. He measured the whole universe with his feet and granted to devendra. What else can be a bigger materialistic wealth? With His grace, the jnAna virOdhis will automatically will vanish. jnAnam about Himself will increase. About moKsham, the means will come in with sadAchArya sambandham (also getting through His grace). Thus enjoying His deceitful Vaamana avathAram would grant one the lokwika jnAnam as well which can attract the world. The way AzhwAr describes Vaamanan in first two lines and the paaRkadal PadmanAbhan denotes this inner meaning. Sri Uttamur Swami writes: however way the waves arise, the milky ocean is clear and crystal like and He reclines with sakala sowndharyam, pushpahaasa sukumAran Sriman Narayanan reclines so divinely beautiful on the white Adhi sEshan; We can enjoy the darshan and anubhavam of His dhivya mangaLa vigraham of Anantha sayanan and enjoy Him uninterruptedly. Insteda, why should we (like Devendran) pray to him for material wealth and make him get up from sayanam, make him wander as Vaamanan and beg to others… IS it appropriate? If we pray, He comes down to lowliest level stooping down so low from His highest level and start as Akinchanan (helpless Brahmachari) and fulfil our requests. But let that be so. It is not in accordance with our essential nature of jeevathman. That’s why AzhwAr says: vaazhtthinaal [praise Him with pallaandu].. in third line and vaNanginaal [pray to Him with requests] in first line. Naturally and automatically, when we sing pallaandu to Him, the paapams vanish. It is His nature and mercy that he removes them. Because there is no goal other than enjoying His glories, He cleanses us of the paapams which will be a hurdle for our enjoyment eternally. Thus singing His names only for the mere enjoyment of His names thus cleanses of our sins due to his grace and paves the way for performance of Saranagati at His lotus feet.
