Guest guest
SrI: Dear BhakthAs: There is a question from SrI SrInivAsan about VaiswadEvam. Here is my input. In SrImath RaamAyaNam , there is a reference to Lord Raamachandra needing a new dwelling ( ParNasAlai ) at Chithrakootam . LakshmaNa swamy created it . Raamachandra needed the new residence readied for the performance of AgnihOthram , Vaisva dEvam as a part of the Nithya KarmAs for a Gruhasthan . VaisvadEva PrakAram with the various balis are done twice a day before BhOjanam by gruhasthAs .The pramANam is : " VaiswadEvasthu karthavya: panchasoonApanutthayE " ( VaiswadEvam is done for eradicating sins of PrANi vadham (ahimsai) arising possibly at five places and occasions in one's house : 1. aduppu and twigs used to keep the fire for preparation of PrasAdham (2) The pestle and grinding stone ( Ammi , Kuzhavi) (3) Upaskaree ( sieve , MuRam) , (4) KaNdinee ( uRal , Ulakkai/ Pestle and mortar, cutting utensil ) and (5) Theerttha Paathram . The key purpose is to gain BhagavAn's nigraha nivrutthi and Aathma suddhi. It is preferrable to do it in LoukIagni instead of VaidhikAgni so that all can partake the VaisvadEva PrasAdham . Without pathni ( a widower) can not perform VaisvadEvam . There are 5 ways of placing the Bali .ChakrakAram is considered the best way . There are manthrams for recieving the annam for VaisvadEvam from the hands of Pathni. There are specific anna vibhAga (division) kramams and directions to invoke visva DevA: ( Sarva DevA: , whose antharyAmi is the Lord ).There are 22 Balis to be invoked. and parishEcahnams . Pathnee has to remove Pithru Bali and Rudra Bhali. Pancha Yaj~nam follows. Vaayasa Bali and SvAna Bali are the last of the Balis .BhOjanam after athithi sathkAram follows . Ahnika Grantham by SrImath Azhagiya Singar is the source for this summary .There is so much more material that will be too much to cover in this short posting .
