Srimathe Ramanujaya Nama:

 

After the Bhattar twins were born, Kooratthazhvan,

waiting on his acharya Ramanuja, did not do anything

for them such as naming them.

 

On the 11th day, Ramanuja, delighted that his dear

disciple had children due to the blessing of Lord

Ranganatha, came to Koortthazhvan's home with his

disciples.

 

Once there, he asked Embar to bring the children

to him. As Embar brought the babies to Ramanuja,

he kept blessing them by reciting the Dvaya mahA

mantra in their ears.

 

As Ramanuja received the babies in his divine hands,

he saw with surprise that they were shining with

divinity and asked Embar "I see the fragrance of

Dvayam with these babies. How is that?" Embar

replied "I was reciting the Dvaya mantra in their

ears as protection for them as I brought them to

you".

 

Ramanuja then said to Embar "Since you recited

the great mantra in their ears for their protection,

you will be their acharya".

 

Then Ramanuja named the children "Parasara Bhattar"

for Parasara Bhagavan and "Veda Vyasa Bhattar" for

Veda Vyasa. This completed one of his vows made to

Alavandar.
