'manam thiruthi, vEdu thiruthap pOi, nAdu thirundhinavAREA, vandhu,

viNNulagam thara viraindhu athai maRandhu, kudi koNdu, thAm

puRappatta AkkaiyilEa pukku..."

 

Summary: The Lord initally made AzhwAr to focus on Him by His sEla

guNam. After having realised the goal of reforming the souls in this

world, He wanted to take back AzhwAr. In this process, however, he

forget the purpose and got emotional entanglement in AzhwAr's physiqe

and settled down therein.

 

manam thiruthi--> in the first ten-third thiru-voi-mozhi

"vaLavEzhulagin mudhalAyA" AzhwAr felt that Lord is a very elevated

person and himself a small soul. The Lord Almighty displayed His

'sEla' guNam and mixed with him freely and made AzhwAr to focus

exclusively on Him and Him alone forever and changed AzhwAr's mind -

who initially tried to distance himself considering his inferiority

and Lord's superiority.

 

"than pAl manam vaikkath thiruthi" --thiru -voi-mozhi 1-5-10; -- Lord

making AzhwAr to focus on Him and Him alone forever.

 

 

vEdu thiruthap pOi: Observing AzhwAr's feelings and fearing that this

inferior feeling may surface again, the Lord wanted and hastened to

grant Him salvation and take him up to parama-padham.

 

"vEdu thiruthuvAn" thriu-voi-mozhi 1-5-1;

 

nAdu thirundhinavAREA": sriman nArAyaNA desired that the whole world

should reform and become srevaishNavites. AzhwAr's counsel achieved

this.

"vUrum nAdum vulgamamu thannaip pOl, avanudaiya, pEArum...pidhaRRa" thiru-voi-mozhi 6-7-2;

 

"vandhu, viNNulagam thara viraindhu: Having achieved the purpose, the

Almighty hastened to escort and take up AzhwAr to His eternal abode

'vandhu inRu viNNulagam tharuvAnAi viraiginRAn" thiru voi mozhi 10-6-3;

 

 

'athai maRandhu, kudi koNdu' --> The Lord who descended on AzhwAr to

take him up, forgot this and became emotionally involved in the

physique of AzhwAr and settled down therein.

 

"gOvindhan kudi koNdAn" thiru voi mozhi 10-6-7;

 

"AkkaiyilEa pukku': the physique which is to be left out was actually

became the residence of the Almighty.

 

'en mAya Akkai idhanuL pukku' 10-7-3;
