Guest guest
AchArya Hrdhayam pathAm pathu sUthram 228-16 SCRATCHING THE FLOOR-BOWING THE HEAD COYLY AzhwAr is not an ordinary person. He is a sarvanjgyar, having realised the incomprehensible, the abstruse. He has understood the fact that the hurdles and attractions in this world distance one from the Lord. However, the making of the world, the creation, sustenance and decimation all rests with the Lord. The Lord is independent. He takes efforts to reclaim the soul. He thinks of ways and means to make them reach Him. The relationship between the soul and the Lord is eternal. The train of thought of the Almighty thus goes on in this fashion and finally reaches a conclusion that AzhwAr is a person who understands the facts and hollow response to his question will not do. Already once in "periya-thiruvandhAdhi" earlier AzhwAr had questioned that "Oh! Lord what are You trying to do. Are You trying to distance me away from You by showing other means? Or are You trying to attract me by blessing me with the vision of Your divine form-thiru-mEani - and bequeath me with lasting experience. All along I have been without knowledge. What are Your thoughts regarding me? "neRi kAtti nEkkudhiyO --- > Are you trying to distance me away from You by showing other means? nin pAl karu-mA muRi mEani kAttudhiyO?-- Are you attracting me with Your divine vision and bestwoing me with divine experience. mEal-nAL, aRiyOmai, en seivAn eNNinAi, kaNNanE, EdhuraiyAi..I have been ignorant all these days. What are thinking of doing to me" periya thiruvandhAdhi 6; and again in the eighth pAsuram AzhwAr mentions that he does not know when he is getting nearer the Lord or getting to know about the Lord. But the love and affection towards HIm is progressing. How is this? "arugum suvadum, theri-vuNarOam, anbEa perugum miga, idhu en , pEAsEr.." periya thiruvandhAdhi 8; The Lord did not reply to those questions. Similarly, the Lord having comprehended that there is no point in giving hollow responses, puts His head down and scratches the floor with His legs.
