Guest guest
paNi mAnam pizhaiAmEA thiru-voi-mozhi 4-8-2; The scale of service should be unabridged or uncurtailed. When a srevaishNavite involves himself in kainkaryam, the paNi=kainkaryam should be of full measure= mAnam=measure; This is explained with an incident : When the thadhEyArAdhanai ghOshti was going on, sri AchAn was serving water and he was not straight up but was putting his back on the wall as support. On seeing this, udayavar rushed to him and told "One should serve by standing upright" Edu:"madathil srEvaishNAvargaL amudhuseiyyA niRka, AchAn thannEr amudhu parimARugiRavar, vOrarugEa sAya ninRu parimARinAr. adhai, udayavar kaNdu vOradi vandhu, mudhugilEa mOdhi, 'nEAREA ninRanROA vudOA parimARuvadhu?"enRAr. 'srEvaishNavargaL should be attended with utmost care especially when they are being served with food. There should be no dilution in the attention' is the essence of the message by sri udayavar. Tailpiece: thirukkuRaL: virudhOmbal 10: "mOppak kuzhiyum aNichham;mugam thirindhu nOkkam kuzhaiyum virundhu" The flower aNicham becomes stale, if one stares at it. Similarly, the guest gets off if one gives a cold look at him. vanamamalai padmanabhan
