karavAdhu mARRili

sORittu

It is said that a man's real nature can be guaged only when he is in

distress. A man's gneuie character is expected to emerge only when he

is in troubled times.

Receiving srEvaishNavite guests and taking care of them is expected of

one and all. This is also of course definitely an appreciable quality.

Even if they are in distress they should take care of the srEvishNavic

guests. This is highly commendable.This is what has been observed and

lauded by sri periAzhwAr in thiru-k-kOshtiyUr.

"kAsin vAi karam viRkilum, karavAdhu mARRili sORittu" 4-4-10;

Taking care of srEvaishNavites, even in times of distress is a great

thing. When there is a drought like circumstances, people tend to

hoard their wealth for future. Instead of that if they bring it out

without hiding and distribute them for the sake of srEvaishNavites,

that is indeed a highly excellent character. On the top of it all,

these are distributed without anything exepecting in return.

These are done by thirukkOshtiyUr srEvaishNavites.

kAsin vAi karam viRkilumtough times;

karavAdhu--Without keeping or reserving or hiding any wealth for future;

mARRili -- without expecting anything in return;

The vyAkyAnam brings this fact excellently.
