Guest guest
THE RECEPTION ROYALE Unless one sees a thing demonstrated, the nuances and precision cannot be imbibed. The souls in the parma-padham are leading by example when they receive the souls into their abode. This is well and elaborately explained in the thiru-voi-mozhi "sUzh visumbaNi mugil " 10-9; How does one recevie the guests? pAsuram 1: thUriyam muzhakkina-> The musical instruments are triggered up to welcome the guests. pAsuram 2: pUraNa poRkudam-thOraNam--> The formal welcome of pUraNam kumbam is offered first; The whole place is adorned with thOraNam to give a festive look. pAsuram 3: thozhudhanar -malar mazhai pozhivanar-irmarungisaithanar-vazhi idhu-> They bowed their heads in reverence. They offered flowers on them. They received them coming up on both the sides and said 'please come, this is the way to vaikuntham, please come'. pAsuram 4:'edhir edhir imayavar iruppidam vaguthanar;adhir kural murasangaL.." They made arrangements for the guests. The murasu instrument was doing its duty by welcoming them with its musical sound. pAsuram 5.'..vAsalil vAnavar, emadhidam pugudhum-gEthangal pAdinar kinnarar garudargaL--vEAdhanaL vAyavar vEALviyuL maduthEA" They came in forefront and received them. Everybody requested to enter their places. The vEdham was recited . The kinnarar and garudAs opened up their musical songs. pAsuram 6: "virai-kamazh naRum pugai-kALangaL valam-puri-madandhaiyar--> The sweet scent pervaded all through. The conch- valam-puri commenced its divine sound. The divine women welcomed the guests. pAsuram7: ..marudhar, vasukkaL-thOthiram sollinar-> The marudhar-s and vasukkaL recited stOthram-s. pAsuiram 8: "mudiyudia vAnavar muRai muRai edhir-koLLa.." At the doorsteps of vaikuntham, they received by coming out and receive them as per protocol. pAsuram 9: ' vidhi vagai pugundhanar enRu nal vEdhiyar-pAdhangaL kazhuvinar-niRai kuda viLakkam'-- They have entered by the grace of the Lord. Their feet are givine a divine wash and received with lamps in the vessel. Conclusion:1. the above pAsuram-s elaborately narrate the extent of reception given at the altars of parama-padham for the souls entering therein. This may not be possible and practical here. Cue from here can be taken for giving welcome reception even if not roayal and divine reception to the core. 2. The pAsuram-s, this and others may seem far-fetched. However, when I visit divya-dEsam-s, except in a few exceptions, people receive us with warm heartedness and open doors. I have seen this in thiruchchErai, nAngunEri, thirukkOshtiyUr, sirrangam and thiruvallikkEANi and other such places. 3.I welcome you one and all to my place . We shall go to thirunErmalai. no. 7, Sarathy street, pallavaram, chennai 43. tel. 2264 2405 Tailpiece: sel virundhu Ombi varu virundhu kAthiruppAn,nal virundhu vAnavar thanakku' ThriukkuRaL -virundhOmbal 6. Who takes are of the guests and wait for more, become the awaited guests of the Gods. concluded rAmAnuja dAsan vanamamalai padmanabhan
