THE SEVEN GREAT WALLS

It is pertinent to note that the 'madhiL' of thiru-k-kaNNapuram has

attracted sri kulasEkarAzhwAr who has mentioned in the very first

pAsuram "mannu pugazh....kanni nan-mA-madhiL puDai sUzh" 8-1 and

completed with the same in the final pAsuram "kanni nan-mA-madhiL

puDai sUzh" in his perumAL thiru-mozhi.

periya vAchan piLLai: 'azhivu illAdha periya madhiLAlEa sUzhapp patta, thiruk-kaNNa-puram'

Our elders have mentioned seven walls for thirukkaNNapuram. These

seven walls are mentioned in 7 out of 11 pAsuram-s in the mAlai nanni

thiru voi mozhi 9-10;

The first Wall: vEalai mOdhum madhiL - last message.

The second wall:veLLi yEaindha madhiL- The wall made of silver or the wall akin to a silver wall.

The third wall: 'vAnai vundhu madhiL sUzh" 9-10-4;

The wall which is high-it is so high that it is mentined that it touches the sky.

The fourth wall: 'araN amaindha madhiL'9-10-5;

The Lord has no security problems in parama-padham; Here, this madhiL eases the concern of AzhwAr.

The fifth wall:'nan-pon-yEaindha-madhiL'9-10-6;

The golden wall or the wall like gold.

The sixth wall:'maNi pon-yEaindha madhiL'9-10-8;

The wall embedeed with gems and stones.

The seventh wall:'kallil yEaindha madhiL' 9-10-10;

The grand stone wall.

That is the seven great walls of thiruk-kaNNa-puram
