Guest guest
The photo attached in Sri Venkatanathan Sreenivasan's mail this morning in a Posting about Srimath Thembirai Andavan on the occasion of Hi Thirunakshatram is a rare one. Just to highlight.. you could see Sri Srinivasa Raghavachariar also known as Sri Kannan Swami (later to become known as Srimath Thirukkudanthai Andavan, the Andavan to succeed Srimath Thembarai Andavan) [highlighted in top left] and Sri Gopalachariar (later to become known as Srimath Mysore Andavan to succeed Srimath Thirukkudanthai Andavan) in the same photo in their Poorvashramam [highlighted in top right]. To the right of Srimath Thembarai Andavan [highlighted in bottom left], you could see a sanyasi standing with a tridandam. He is Sri. VK Srinivasachariar known as Pattnam Mama who was the Srikaryam & at the same time became a sanyasi. He was blessed and initiated into the sanyasramam by Thembirai Andavan in recognition and appreciation of Pattnam mama's vairagyam, anushtanam and asraamam administration. It was unique that in an Asramam with a yateeswara in the peetam, another sanyasi acted as a Srikaryam; there are/have been junior pontiffs at the same time, but not the Srikaryam also as a sanyasi. There were difficulties for Pattnam Mama in maintaining sanyasa dharmam while still taking the busy responsibilities of a Srikaryam. So he got relieved from the post of Srikaryam and Sri Kannan swami become the Srikaryam of Andavan Ashramam before He himself took up Sanyasa Ashramam to become Thirukkudandhai Andavan on April 5th 1963, just few Hours before Thembarai Andavan attained Thirunaadu. dasan Shyamsundar Sreenivasan -- NOTICE: If received in error, please destroy and notify sender.
