Guest guest
A recent posting gave the locations visited by Swami Desikan when he left Srirangam. It was mentioned in that posting that Swami Desikan stayed for sometime in Satyamangalam in Karnataka. Satyamanagalam is in Tamil Nadu, 60 km north east of Coimbatore City on the road to Mysore. It is likely that Swami Desikan must have passed through this town as it is on the route that has been used for more than 1000 years in a pass over the mountains between the regions which are now Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. It is not known whether Swami stayed here for any length of time. There is however an old Vishnu temple and a building of Sri Ahobila Math in this town, There is a place in Karnataka called Satyagalam near Kollegal, near the banks of Cauvery. The is a temple called Kotte Varadharajaswamy temple in this hamlet which has a sannathi for Swami Desikan. Was this the author of the posting referring to? Guest guest
SrI: Dear SrIman Balasundaram : The kshEthram where Swamy Desikan stayed was Sathyagalam on the banks of Cauvery river in Karnataka. It is very possible that he might have travelled thru Sathyamangalam . SrIman Sridhar of Bangalore has created a beautiful CD ROM of Sathyagalam , the old Aswattha Tree under which Swamy Desikan performed His anushtAnams and the temple of Lord Varadaraajan there .
