Guest guest
THE IDENTITY CONUNDRUM The mother of parakAla nAyaki was reporting parakAla nAyaki's situation to the Lord of thiru-idavendhai. The Lord appeared in front of parakAla nAyaki. The appearance was wonderful. The person who destroyed thirupuram-shiva and brahmA were indeed awed and surprised to see the appearence. The splendour with which the Lord emerged was indeed amazing. The looks and attributes all the likes of sriman nArAyaNA. The look was like narasimhA. the hair was like burning fire. The appearance was like vAmanA. the eyes were like the ones actually written by great artists. The divine hands had eight divine weapons. All the world worshipped the immaculate Lord. mudhAlAzhwArgaL had sung in praise of HIm. This is the one who had out of mercy voluntarily handed over the vEdhAs for our retrieval. He had all the likes of the one who had vanquished the kuvalayApEta elephant. the looks had the power to voluntarily conquer's ones composure and possessions and make it His. Indeed He is like my soul. These are the thoughts of parakAla nAyaki on seeing the divine form. However, the greatness and the lustre also created one doubt in her mind. Can He be the Lord, who has been slipping my vision all these days? Can I be so fortunate to ultimately view Him? 'Yes, He does have the attributes and the looks of the Great one. Still I am not able to determine that it is Him definitely' are the thoughts of parakAla nAyaki. She also felt delicately to ask Him directly. Hence, she posed this question to a third person- as if asking to somebody else. The Lord declared " I am the Lord of atta-puyakaram" The gaze and the appearance is described in the first few lines and pat comes the reply from the Almighty comes sharp "I am the Lord of atta-puya-karam". AzhwAr's experience with the Lord's presence in the femine form is indeed a rare one. It is unique. this is thalaivip pAsuram and the preceding thAip pAsuram. These divine experiences are all narrated in the eighth thirumozhi of the second ten -attapuyakaram dhivya dhEsam. What a way to expereince the Lord! The question and answers go on like this: "..eri ana kEsara vAL eiRROdu, ari-vuruvAm ivarAr? kol enna, atta pukarathEan enRAREA"2-8-1; '...vandhu kuRaL vuruvAi nimirndhu mAvali vEALviyil man alandha andhanar pOnRu ivarAr? kol enna atta puyakarathEan! enRAREA" 2-8-2; "ambudham pOnRu ivarAr? kol enna, atta puyakarathEan enRArEa" 2-8-3; "...alai kadal pOnRu ivarAr? kol enna atta pukarathEan ennArEa" 2-8-5; "...azhagiyadhAm ivarAr?kol enna. atta puyakarathEan ennArEa" 2-8-7; "..pongu karum kadal, pUvai kAyA punaindha mEagam anganam pOnRu ivarAr? kol enna atta puyakarathEan enRAREA" 2-8-9 vanamamalai padmanabhan
