Please visit http://www.agnisiksha.org/ for Nithya Karma Nivarani

which meant for the populace of the whole world, irrespective of

religion, race, caste, creed etc., This includes performance of

certain good tasks, which may vary, according to the geographical

features of each country. Observe these divine verses of Sathguru,

obtained by him for our benificence from the upper divine worlds. Do

internal Atma Vichara (inner research), purify your Self by repairing

Nama:Dear BhakthAs:As Sriman Sadagopan mentioned, Rahu kalam in USA

or elsewhere depends on Sun rise as well sun set. Here is the

calculation for the rahu kalam First find out the sun rise and sun

set for your location. For US location this can be found out from the

following web site.http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/RS_OneYear.html

In this table, one hour for daylight time is to be added to the times

shown , if and when in use.The time duration between sun rise and sun

set on any particular day is divided by eight. This is called

octant. For example, if the time duration between sun rise and set

is 13 hrs, then time octant is 97.5 minutes, say 98 mts. (13 hrs.

is 780 mts. and this is divided by 8). For Monday, if the sun rise

is at 7:15 a.m., then rahu kalam is from 8:53 (7:15 + 98 mts) plus 98

mts. and so from 8:53 to 10:31 (98 mts duration). Adiyen found this

method some time back in the web site www.agastiyar.org . (Agastiyar

universal magazine - describing about vaaram, tithi, stars, yogam and

karanam - But now not able to open it. ) and also from other source.

Adiyen does not remember the name of the source. Adiyen may please be

excused for any error and omission.Dasan Srinivasan Sadagopan wrote:

Hello

Hello,

Does the rahukalam, yamakandam apply at the same time in USA as

followed in India? For example, 7:30am-9am is rahukalam on Mondays.

So will the rahukalam be between the same time in USA or should we

follow Indian time?

Regards,

Neeraja

Dear Srimathi Neeraja Chari:

No , it does not .

The determination of Rahu Kaalam et al and

others are based on Sunrise time at the locations

where you live .

Here are examples as to how it varies

across the Year at East Coast of USA .

*****************************************************

For Monday , Oct 11 , on the East Coast of USA

Rahu Kaalam was between 7.27 to 8.52 A.M ( 85 Minutes)

On Oct 18 (Monday) , it is between 7.33 to 8.55 A.M ( 82 Minutes)

On Oct 25 ( Monday) , it will be 7.38 to 8.59 A.M ( 81 Minutes)

On Nov 29 ( Monday) , it will be 8.09 to 9.21 A.M ( 72 Minutes)

On Dec 24 (Monday) , it will be 8.29 to 9.38 A.M ( 69 Minutes)

On Jan 24(Monday) , 2005 it will be 8.27 to 9.41 A.M ( 77 minutes)

On Feb 28 (Mondy) , 2005 , it will be between 7.56 to 9.20 A.M ( 84 minutes)

On March 28, 2005 , Monday , it will be between 7.21 to 8.55 A.M ( 94 minutes)

On April 26(Monday) ,2004 it was between 6.44 to 8.27 A.M ( 104 Minutes)

For the end of the months of May , June , July , August and September 2004 ,

Raahu Kaalam for Mondays were between :

May 24 : 6.21 to 8.12 A.M ( 111 Minutes)

June 28 : 6.20 to 8.13 A.M ( 113 Minutes)

July 26 : 6.35 to 8.24 A.M ( 109 Minutes)

August 30: 6.59-8.38 A.M ( 99 Minutes)

September 27 : 7.18 to 8.47 A.M ( 89 Minutes)

For one has performed Saranaagathy to the Lord ,

the influence of grahams like Raahu , Sani etc

is of secondary importance . Once , one has placed

the burden of protection of the jeevan at the sacred

feet of thge Lord with AchAryan's MahOpakAram ,

one can ask : Graha Palam yEmi ? " and recite

Swamy Desikan's Sri RanganAtha Padhuka

Sahasram SlOkam overcoming the powers of

Navagraham .
