Guest guest
SrI: SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah: Dearest Srivaishnavas, Oct 22nd, 23rd and 24th- are the birthdays (Thirunakshathrams) of Mudhal AzhwArs namely, Poigai Azhwar, BhoothatthAzhwAr and PeyAzhwAr. Please click here to read the life of these AzhwArs. They were born on three consecutive days and were NOT born from human bodies. They simply appeared on earth.. as little infants. http://members.tripod.com/~sriramanujar/ Click on main menu (under AzhwArs ) Let us pay our respects and prostrate at the feet of this Adhi kavi, Poigai AzhwAr- the first among the 12 AzhwArs- reciting a Thanian (a dedication verse) on PoigaiAzhwAr: Kaidai sEr poopozhil soozh kacchi nagar vandhudhittha/ poigai pirAn kavignar pEr yERu-vaiyatthu/ adiyArgaL vAzha arum thamizh nooRRandhAdhi/ pAdi viLanga seydhAn parindhu/ Very true! How excellently composed on this great first [AzhwAr] among equals. Meaning: Poigai AzhwAr was born in the (poompozhil) garden city of kacchi(kAnchipuram). He composed the 100 pAsurams in andhAdhi style, with utmost concern and mercy/compassion to save the earth (and thereby us, the earthly beings) and to take us to the Lord's Lotus feet. (Then, what's the worry?-cheer up!) Let us pay our respects to our BhoodatthAzhwAr whose thirunakshathram was on saturday. The thanian of Thirukkurugai pirAn declares what we wish to do for this AzhwAr. En piRavi theera iRainjinEn innamudha/ anbE thagaLi aLiththAnai- Nun pugazh sEr/ seedathAr muthukkaL sErum kadan mallai/ bhoodatthAr ponnan kazhal Meaning: To get rid of samsara, it is he who gave us the insatiable nectar "anbE thagaLiyA" pAsuram, the one, who is known for his wisdom (para GnAnam). He was born at Mahabalipuram (kadan mallai). I prostrate at the feet of BhoodatthAzhwAr. Let us pray obeisance to one of the Great MudhalAzhwAr's, pEyAzhwAr, who was a parama bhakthA of Sriman NarayaNa. He composed MoonRam thiruvandhAdhi, hundred pAsurams after being blessed with Thiruvikraman's ThirumEni darsanam. He started off with A GRAND "THIRUKKANDEN PONMENI KANDEN....". SeerAru mada thirukkoviloor athauL/ kArAr karu mudhalaik kANappukku/ orAt thirukkaNdEn enRu uRaitha seerAn kazhalE uraikkaNdAi nenjE! ugandhu. In the lovely Thirukkoiloor, where the Lord appears with the colour of the rain bearing clouds, experiencing an intimate closeness and love with Him, our pEyAzhwAr has given us the pAsurams"ThirukkaNdEn pon mEni kaNdEn.." in andhAdhi style. By prostrating and meditating on the feet of this pEyAzhwAr, Oh mind! you can derive ultimate Divine ecstasy. He was called pEy for his parama bhakti for the Lord and he was concentrating on Him so much (The intensity is described as pEy). The intensity of our pEyAzhwAr's love and bhakti was such that without this anubhavam, he would die like a fish out of water.
