Guest guest
There lived a great bhakta by the name Kurumbarutha Nambi. He was a potter. He made an idol of ThiruVenkadamudayan and worshipped him with flowers made of 'left over clay' everyday. Another bhakta also lived during the same time. He was Thondaman Chakravarthy. He was not only a great bhakta of ThiruVenkadamudayan, but also a close friend of Him. ThiruVenkadamudayan has even done MatrOpadesam to this king. He also used to worship ThiruVenkadamudayan with flowers everyday, but with golden flowers. Every time he entered the sannidhi of ThiruVenkadamudayan, he saw mud flowers on ThiruVenkadamudayan’s crown. He used to ask ThiruVenkadamudayan about this strange thing. But ThiruVenkadamudayan refrained from revealing the details of Kurumbarutha Nambi (Reason being: Kurumbarutha Nambi once had requested Perumal not to reveal any information about him. If ThiruVenkadamudayan does so, then Nambi will no longer be alive in this world). One day, ThiruVenkadamudayan decided to take Kurumbarutha Nambi out of samsaric world (Moksham), and so finally revealed the details about Nambi to the king. Thondan king was immediately looking out for Kurumbarutha Nambi. When he really saw the state of Nambi, he fell at his feet thinking that such a poor person was also able to perform kaimkaryam to Perumal. As per Perumal’s vakku, Nambi reached paramapadam before the king stood up in normal posture. Let us see why Nambi was called Kurumbarutha Nambi There is an interesting reference to Ramanuja Nootrandadhi here.
