“vugappuruvam thAnE oli vuruvan thAnE

magappuruvan thAnE madhikkil-migappuruvam

ondrukkondru OsanaiyAl veezha orukaNaiyAl

andrikkondeithAn avan”

“Azhveer! Then do you know fully about emperuman’s thirumeni?” Azhvar

answers, “Oh! No there is absolutely no limit to emperuman’s

thirumeni and hence cannot be understood fully by anyone”

(vugappuruvam thAnE) He alone has the thirumeni that is enjoyed by everyone.

“samasthakalyANaguNathmakOsow

svasakthilEsOthdrutha bhoothasarga: I

echchAgruheethAbhimathOrudEhas

samsAdhithA sEsha jagaththithOsow II” (V.P. 6-5-84)

[This lord has all the kalyana gunas naturally; He upholds all the

bhoothas with just a small part of his power; By his own wish he

takes many forms lovable to him; He does good for the whole world]

As per the above verse of parasara maharishi in Vishnu puranam

emperuman has a divine form (thirumeni) liked by everyone.

Not only is his thirumeni liked by others he himself likes his thirumeni more than his svaroopam.

“shAnthAnandha mahA vibhoothi paramam yath brahma roopam hare:

moortham brahma thathOpi that priyatharam roopam yat atyatbhutham II”

[The faultless, ecstasy filled, that which possess big vibhuthis and

that which cannot be paralleled, that which is big and makes other

things big and that which is indicated with the brahma sabdham that

svaroopa of hari, is there any thing that is more lovable to that

bhagavan, that which could be see with our eyes, and that is told by

the brahma sabdham, the most amazing that roopam] says aalavandaar.

(vugappuruvam thAnE) He is the ultimate result that the devotees

should reach (PrApyam) so they all love him. Since the devotees love

that form emperuman also cherishes the same. It makes us think if

both his svaroopam and vigraham are the same, subtle and intricate.

Next azhvar says the reason why everyone likes him.

(olivuruvan thAnE) “param jOthi:”, “nArAyana parO jOthi:” “Adhitya

varNam”, “vidyutha: purushAt” declare the Vedas that he is

jOthivuruvan

“tEjasAm sAsimoorjitham” [he is a big heap of light]

Nammazhvar says, “paranjOthi nee paramAi ninnagazhindhu pin maRROr

paranjOthi enmaiyin padiyOli nigazhkindra paranjOdhi”

As per the verse, “na tattra sooryO bhAthi” he is capable of making

the light of sun and moon false. In the paramapadam he makes the

light of all the nithya sooris like a small blinking light and he

himself remains as a big flashlight.

(magappuruvan thAnE) He has a very big physical structure.

“samasthA: sakthayaschaithA nrupa yathra pradhistithA: I

tat vishvaroopavairoopyam roopamanyat harEr mahat: II [6-7-70]

[Oh! King, all these powers are present in that form collectively,

that very form of hari is the greatest among all the forms in this

world and is different] declares the Vishnu puranam. Here greatness

is due to – gunas like AkArthvam, Ashcharyakarathvam etc.

The word ‘mahat’ in Sanskrit is changed to ‘magappu’ in tamil or

otherwise ‘mahatbhootham’ has been changed to ‘magappu’ in tamil.

‘roopam yat atbhutham’ says aalavandaar.

Is that emperuman paramapadanAthan (that form talked about in the

first half)? No. He had that form when he came to this world taking

avathara as a human “AtmAnam mAnusham manyE” further shows azhvar

(puruvam ondrukkondru OsanaiyAn veezha) kumbakarna, who had a distance

of about one Yojana (a measure) in-between his two eyebrows fell down

like a mountain crashing down.

(miga andrikkoNdu eithAN) Leaving his usual calm nature “kshamayA

prithivi sama:” emperuman made himself filled with anger

“kOpamAhArayat theevram” and left the arrow vigorously. He forgot

his nature of working for others and considering it to be his own job

he was filled with anger.

(kanaiyAl eithAn) He could have killed him just by his sankalpam but

then he felt that it was not enough for the apacharam done towards

his devotees so he came in person to the war and left the arrows

“vennagaram sErAvagaiyE silai pidiththAn” (siriya thirumadal) it was

just enough for them to see him with his bow and arrow they need not

go to any other naraka any more.

Since kumbakarna was so big, did emperuman take extra efforts to kill him?

(oru kanaiyAl eithAn) he killed him with just a single arrow without much effort.

(madhikkil) While trying to understand this ramapiran he is found to

be vugappuruvan, olivuruvan and magappuruvan. “madhikkil” indicates

that no one can actually calculate the greatness of emperuman’s

thirumeni.

(eithAnavan vugappuram thAnE) His thirumeni is loved by both the

rishis who are filled with knowledge and even by the knowledge less

trees

(eithAnavan olivuruvan thAnE) Sri chakravarthi thirumangan due to his

glowing brightness lighted the whole dandakAranya vanam “sOpayan

dandakAraNyam deepthEna svEna tEjasA”

(eithAnavan magappuravan thane) “pumsAm drushtuchittApahAriNam” he is

capable of attracting even the eyes and mind of males with his divine

beauty.
