Guest guest
Post 3 Dear srivaishNava perunthagaiyeer, After thinking about that kaal vaNNam of raaman as per kamban, to think about the colour of same we have to go to aazhvaar who says his feet have the colour of lotus. Also we saw the feet expands in the mind - yes - because it was the thrivikraman's feet so naturally it expands - the paasuram reads as adi vaNNam thaamarai anRu ulagam thaayOn padi vaNNam paarkkadal neer vaNNam mudi vaNNam Oraazhi veyyOn oLiyum akhdhanrE aaraazhi koNdaaRku azhagu. - 5 - moonRaam thiruvandhaadhi meaning: beauty means that belongs to the lord who has the shining chakram in his hand. In the thrivikrama avathaaram the feet had the colour of lotus. The body had the colour of that ocean, which surrounds this earth. The crown had the colour and shine of the incomparable sun. Point: Ok, the feet have lotus colour. How about the eyes? How about the hands? See what aazhvaar has to say - on the vaNNam - colour of these - kaNNum kamalam kamalamE kaiththalamum maNNaLandha paadhamum maRRu avaiyE eNNin karu maa mugil vaNNan kaark kadal neer vaNNan thirumaamaNi vaNNan thEsu - 9 moonRaam thiruvandhaadhi meaning: the eyes are like lotus. The palms are also like lotus. The feet those measured the three worlds also are lotus coloured. Thinking on the thEjas - the brightness - of that lord, thEjas stems from the blue gem coloured body which is like that clouds or the blue ocean. If you ask 'ok is that much only about the colour - vaNNam?' - then I have to say 'no, see one more in same lines - kaNNum senthaamaraik kaiyum avai adiyO avaiyE vaNNam kariyadhOr maal varai pOnRu madhi vigaRpaal viNNUm kadanthu um parappaal mikku maRRu eppaal yaavarkkum eNNUm idaththadhuvE empiraanadhu ezhil niRame - 43 thiru viruththam. Meaning: to think about colour of the lord - the eyes of lotus colour. The palms are of lotus colour. The feet are also of lotus colour. His body colour is like the black hill. That comes out of our twisting thoughts in mind, because the thirumEni - body - goes beyond the heaven [upper world] for we really cannot think that glory of him. Now see this krithi on colour - Author - bhadhraachala raamadhaas Raagam naattai jampa thaaLam Pallavi: jaya jaanakee ramaNaa jaya vibheeshaNa saraNaa jaya sarOruha charaNaa jaya dhanuja haraNaa jaya lOka saraNya jaya bhaktha kaaruNyaa jaya gaNya laavaNya jaya jagadhgaNya [jaya] charaNam: sakala lOka nivaasaa saakEtha pura vaasaa akalanka nijahaasaa abjamukha haasaa sukha muni sthuthi paathraa subha ramya chaarithraa makara kundala karNaa mEga syaama varNaa [jaya] kamaneeya koteera kousthubha alankaara kamlaaksha raghuveera kalusha samhaara samara ripu jaya dheera sakalaguna gambheera amala hruth sanchaara akhilaaarthi haara [jaya] roopa nirjitha maara ruchira shadguNa soora bhoopa dhasaratha puthra bhoobhaara haara papa sanga vidhaara pankthi mukha samhaara sreepathe sukumaara seethaa vihaara [jaya] meaning: pallavi: victory to jaanakee ramaNan, victory to the one who gave refuge to vibheeshaNan, victory to the one with lotus feet, victory to the destroyer of the raakshasaas, victory to the one who is the refuge of all the three worlds, victory to the one who is merciful to his devotees, victory to the one who is limitless splendour, victory to the one who is worshipped by all in the universe. charaNam: victory to you, oh lord raamaa, the one who lives in all the three worlds, one who resides in ayOdhyaa, one who has a pure and tender smile, one who has a face like lotus, one who is hymned by sages sukha, one who has a pure and beautiful character, one who has an ear ornament like an alligator, one who has a blue colour equal to that of the cloud, victory to you, oh lord raamaa, hey raghveera , you, the one has kousthubha the jewel in chest, who has lotus eyes, one who destroys all sins,. the brave one who is victorious against enemies in conflicts one who is profound and has all qualities, one who moves in pure and untainted hearts one who rids us of all troubles one who is manmadha one who is courageous and has beautiful qualities one who is the son of the ruler of earth dhasaratha, one who got rid of the burden of earth one who tears apart the groups of sins one who killed the ten headed raavaNan one who is the lord of lakshmee the tender one, one who joyously moves about with seethaa - victory to you, oh raamaa. dear bhakthaas, you may ask why, what is the link for this krithi with the present topic of vaNNam - it is the kaal vaNNam - see the second line in pallavi - sarOruha charaNa - adi vaNNam thaamarai of aazhvaar - not only that thaayOn padi vaNNam paarkkadal neer vaNNam - is said here as 'mEga syaama varNaa'. - Further, it is the intention of saying 'jayam to you, oh lord' - like 'pallaaNdu pallaaNdu' of periyaazhvaar Hail victory to the lord, 'jaya jaya jaanakee ramaNaa' till next post on colour.
