This is a posting from Sri Ramanan , who is currently

working at London , UK.

Once there were two friends who were flying over all the places in a

pushpak vimanam. While one person used to tell good things about the

places they visited, the other one used to talk bad things about

those places. One fine day, they were flying over ThiruVenkadam. The

person who used to talk about the places was totally out of bad words

after he heard the other one talking good things about that place.

Here is what the good one told about Venkatadri:

The Perumal here asked for water from a MahAn A Great AchArya gave

weapons to this Perumal in this yugam Peurumal tried to serve the

disciple of that AchArya in renovating that Divya Desam, and

eventually by his leela, got hurt by that great mahAn. Perumal did

this to show the greatness of that mahAn and the words of that

mahAn’s AchAryan.

ThiruVenkadamudayAn asked Periya Thirumalai Nambigal for water. Hence,

Periya Thirumalai Nambigal used to fetch water from Akasa Gangai

everyday for Perumal. A great AchAryA who gave the weapons to Perumal

was none but Swami Ramanujar. The mahAn from whom ThiruVenkadamudayAn

got hurt was none but Thirumalai AnanthAn Pillai. Once Swami

Ramanujar was doing ThiruvAymozhi kAlakshepam. When talking about the

‘Ozhivil ’ pathikam, EmPerumAnAr felt that someone should go and do

kaimkaryam to this Perumal who was served by even nityasUris.

AnanthAn Pillai volunteered to do that kiamkaryam with AchAryan’s

niyamanam.

Let us look at a reference in Ramanuja NoortrandhAdhi,

‘padi konda keerti rAmAyanam ennum bathi vellam kudi konda koil rAmAnusan..’

Here ThriuvarangathamudanAr talks about Ramanujar and his complete

immersion in Ramayanam. Periya Thirumalai Nambigal used to do

Ramayana kAlakshEpam to Swami Ramanujar everyday by climbing down the

hill after his theertha kaimkaryam.

Though Andal was completely in Krishna Bhakti, she referred to Kannan in her pasuram as

‘pennin varutham ariyAdha perumAn..’

When talking about Raman, she referred to Him as ‘manathukkiniyAn’ in ThiruppAvai.

NammAzhwar who was totally involved in Krishna Bhakti has sung as

‘unnum sOru parugun neer thinnum vetrilai ellAm kannan….’ In his

ThiruvAymozhi pasuram for ThirukkOlUr Divya Desam. Same Azhwar infact

has preached the world to learn from the life of Raman in his pasuram,

‘karpAr rAmapirAnai allathu…’

Raman is none but ThiruVenkadamudayAn. Thirumazhisai Azhwar refers to

this fact in Thiruchhandaviruttam,

‘adainthapaaRka dalkidanthu kaalanEmi yaikkadinthu, udainthavaali

thanpinukku thavavanthi raamanaay, midainthavEzhma rankaLuma

dankaveythu,vEnkadam adainthamaala paathamE yadainthunaaLu muymminO’

Let us look at more anubhavams on Pushpa mandapam in the next posting,
