Guest guest
Perumal has physically done lots of things in His avatArams. In order to make Himself more accessible to us, He decided to descend in ArchA roopam. ‘pinnAnAr vanangum sOdhi ThirumoozhikkalathAnai’ Since we are lagging in kAlam, we cannot enjoy his leela in avatArams. NammAzhwar has enjoyed the Perumal in sayana thirukkOlam in ThirukkOlUr and Thiruppulingudi as ‘kotiyaar maadak kOLu ragaththum puLingudiyum, madiyaa thinnE neethuyil mEvi magizndhathuthaan, adiyaar allal thavirththa achaivO? anREl,ip padidhaan neendu thaaviya achaivO? paNiyaayE.’ Here he asks Perumal whether He has become tired in protecting His Bhaktas, and has decided to be in this beautiful sayana ThirukkOlam. Similarly Thirumazhisai Azhwar enjoys the sayana ThirukkOlam of MannAthan in ThiruvallikkEni as, ‘thaaLaal ulagam aLandha asaivEkol, vaaLaa kidandharuLum vaaythiRavaan, - nILOdham vandhalaikkum maamayilai maavallik kENiyaan, aindhalaivaay naagath thaNai?’ Thirumazhisai Azhwar asks MannAthan whether He is very tired after measuring the worlds in vAmana avatAram, and hence decided to be in this sayana ThirukkOlam in the sea shore of ThiruvallikkEni, so that the water of the sea will hit the feet of Perumal to give Him cooling effect. Swami Desikan has also indicated sisirOpachAram done by the Padhukai of Raman to Bhoomi PirAtti as, ‘ahnAya rAmavirahAth pariKhinnavrutthE: AshvAsanAya BhavatI maNipAdharakshE! teerThABhiShEkamapadhishya vasunDharAyA: chakrE thadhA samuchitham shishirOpachAram’ He refers to the cooling effect provided by PattAbishEkam of Raman’s Padhukai to the earth (Bhoomi PirAtti). She was suffering from the separation of Raman for a long time. Perumal as an archA murty needs sisirOpachAram. This is one of the purposes of utsavams like Kodai utsavam. Similar to the above sisirOpachArams, Thiruukkacchi Nambigal did ThirvAlavatta kaimkaryam (visiri) to Perarulalan. What made him choose this Perumal for this kaimkaryam? Let us enjoy the answer to this question in next posting, aDiyEn, ramanan
