Prior to that , adiyEn will cover Swamy Desikan's summary of AchArya RaamAnujA's sangraham of PaadhArTams . This summary of the 16 paadhAs is known as "Saareeraka adhyAya PaadhArTa Sangraha: ". There are in total 16 PaadhAs with individual adhikaraNAs belonging to them . SWAMY DESIKAN'S SUMMARY OF THE 16 PAADHAAS ****************************************************** Our Swamy Desikan , one of the authorities on Sri BhAshyam of AchArya RaamAnujA summarizes the content of these 16 Paadhams in the 19th slOkam of his AdhikaraNa SaarAvaLi : Srashtaa dEhee Swanishta: Niravadhimahimaa apAstaBhAdha: srithAptha: KhAthmAdhE: indhriyAdhE: uchitha-janana-kruthsamsruthO tantravAhee nirdhOshatwAdhiramyO Bahujanapadham svArha-karma-prasAdhya: pApascchit Brahma-nADi-gathikruth Aadhivahan sAmyadha: cha athra vEdhya: The Lord ( Brahman , Sriman NaarAyaNan) is described in the 16 PaadhAs of Sri BhAshyam as : (1) SrashtA = The Creator of this Universe (2) dEhee = the Possessor of this world ( sentients and insentients) as His body (Sareeram) . (3) Svanishta: = One who has only Himself for His support and One who does not seek support from any other sources . (4) Niravadhimahimaa = resplendent with limitless Vaibhavam and pervading every thing in His Creation . (5) apAstaBhAdha: = One who can not be denied (6) SrithAbhdha: = Achyuthan , One who does not let down any one , who sought Him as refuge & Protection. He is an unfailing , reliable friend to those aasritha janams (aNDinOrai tavarAthu Kaappavan). (7) KhaathmAdhE: = One who is the creator of AakAsam et al ( Moola Prakruthi) and the Jeevans . (8) IndhriyAdhE: = One who is the Creator of the senses and the PrANAs as well . (9) Uchita-Jananakruth SamsruthO tantravaahee = One who is the controller of the unceasing tides ( movements, gathi) of SamsAraa . (10) nirdhOshatvAth adhiramya: = Beautiful because He is untouched by any dhOshams ( defects, blemishes). An abode of perfection . (11) Bahu-jana padham = One who is the object (goal) of many kinds of UpAsanAs( devotional worships) prescribed by the Upanishads . (12) SvArha-karma-prasAdhya: = One who is pleased with the performance of the prescribed duties for the Jeevans . (13) Paapaschith = One who destroys all the sins of the PrapannAs (14) Brahma-nADi-gathi-kruth = One who leads the liberated Jeevans through the Brahma NaDi during the time of the falling of the body ( dEhAvasAnam). (15) Aadhivahan = One who leads the Jeevan further through ArchirAdhi maargam ( the path of light ) with His AadhivAhAs ( assigned representatives) . (16) Saamyadha: = One who grants the status of equality with Himself for the Muktha Jeevans at Sri Vaikuntam to enjoy the BrahmAnandham with Him and the eternally liberated Jeevans ( nithya sooris) . Swamy Desikan in his own inimitable style states that Our Lord has to be understood in this manner (athra vEdhya: ) as saluted by the 16 PaadhAs of Brahma SutrAs . Next , we will take up AchArya RaamAnuja's summary of the Four AdhyAyaas with their 16 PaadhAs that formed the basis of summary in the 19th slOkam of his AdhikaraNa SaarAvaLi ; That posting on the summary will serve as the introduction before we bask under the warmth of the Dheepam of VedAntham lit for us by AchArya RaamAnujA .
