Guest guest
mAmunikaL's open mind It is well known that periya jEyar has prescribed learning through AchAryAs teachings and follow them meticulosuly. Differing from the views of pUrvAchAryAs has been proscribed as per the upadhEsa rethinamAlai pAsuram"munnoAr mozhindha" However, sri vAdhi kEsari azhagia maNavALa jEyar has given a commentary-pannErAyirappadi vyAkyAnam- for thriuvoizmozhi. This is more or less based on the meanings of the terms of pAsurams. Therefore, it is easier to understand and learn initally. Keeping this in mind periya jEayar has appreciated this work as "pinbOrum kaRRaRindhu pEasugaikkA" For the benefit of posterity, this commentary has been appreciated. However, lot of differences crept in, in relation to pUrvAchAryAs thoughts. Therefore, to highlight this the terms "tham periya bOdhamudan" is prefixed to this work meaning he did this work independent of pUrvAchAryAs line of thinking. This prefix has to be given as he did not toe the lineage of our pUrvAchAryAs. Nevertheless, basically the work was good and azhagia maNavALach jEyar was a great scholar. Hence, the term blemishless is added to the work == yEadhamil pannErAyiram. Thus the 45th pAsuram of upadhEsa rethihnamAlai: "anbOdu azhagia maNavALac jEyar, pinbOarum kaRRaRindhu pEasugaikkA, tham periya bOdhamudam mARAn maRaiyin poruL vuraithadhu, yEadhamil pannErAyiram" Does it not display the open mindedness of sri maNavALa mAmunikaL?
