Guest guest
Most respected Swamin There are some people who say that the Anadhyana Kalam commences with the thirunakshatram of Thirumangai Mannan (Aazhwar) and concludes with the end of the holy month of Maargazhi. Of course, I am a thiruvadi of Srimad Srirangam Andavan Asraram and our tradition is to resume recitation after Thai Hastham. Next, what are the items with Divya Prabandham that are expressly prohibited? Can you tell me authoritatively whether we can use this time for silent study of the various vyaakhyaanams, quote during discussions and discourses, help our youngsters commit to memory (naturally through the "santhai" method)? I, for one believe, that only ritualisitc recitation is prohibited. Dear Sri Madhavan : I am also in favor of anadhyayana observance from Thirumangai Mannan's Thirunakshathram to KurEsar's Thirunakshathram . There may be different observances by different Matams & SvayamAchAryAs. As Srimath Azhagiya Singar's Thiruvadi , I follow the Sri Matam observances in Anadhyayana Kaalam . This is the anusanthAna Kramam at Sri Matam during Anadhyayana Kaalam : The observancs are different for the Mornings and the evenings at Sri Matam . The Prabhandha anusanthAnam and SaRRUmuRais are also different for the entire month of Marghazhi and for days outside Marghazhi during this anadhyayanam period at Sri Matam . Here they are : A. Outside 30 Marghazhi days: ******************************** Morning AarAdhanam(Abhigamanam) : ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ A.1 : Recitation of the 49 Taniyans of "NaalAyiram " : ****************************************************** Pothu Taniyans (6) ,PeriyAzhwAr Thirumozhi(3) , ThiruppAvai ( 3) , NaacchiyAr Thirumozhi (1) , PerumAL Thirumozhi (2) , Thirucchnadha-Viruttham (2) , ThirumAlai(1) , ThiruppaLLIyezucchi (2) , AmalanAdhipirAn ( 2) , KaNNInuNN SiRuttAmbhu( 2) , Periya Thirumozhi (4) , Mudhal ThiruvandhAthi (1) , IraNDAm ThiruvandhAthi (1) , MoonRAM ThiruvandhAthi (1) , Naanmukhan ThiruvandhAthi (1) , Thiruviruttham (1) , Tiruvaasiriyam (1) ,Periya ThiruvandhAthi(1) , ThiruvEzhukURRirukkai (1) , SiRiya Thirumadal (1) , Periya Thirumadal (1) , ThiruvAimozhi (6) , R aamAnusa NooRRanthAdhi (3) and Adaikkala Patthu (2) . I, for one believe, that only ritualisitc > recitation is prohibited. The above list A thru D gives details of what are not recited as well as what are permitted . Anadhyayanam originated when Swamy NammAzhwAr's dhivya MangaLa vigraham was brought from AzhwAr Thirunahari for adhyayana uthsavam at Srirangam and returned back at the end of this uthsavam , a period of two months ( approximately). Since AzhwAr was away , there was no recitation at the dhivya dEsam temples .and at homes . As a part of the Pancha kaala PrakriyA , there is alloted time for SvAdhyAyam . This time certainly can be used to reflect upon the commentaries of PoorvAchAryAs . Guest guest
Most respected Swamin I am stupefied with the detailed answer. I have now learnt more and correctly. I will, nevertheless request you to confirm whether I can also confidently teach someone, any item from the Divya Prabandham. Our methodology is the "santhai" style i.e. the master recites on word or line and the taught repeats twice (if it is Sanskrit) and thrice (if it is a Tamil work). Thanks and regards, Dasan Madhavan ________________________________ Sadagopan [sgopan] Sun 11/21/2004 8:20 PM V Madhavan; SRS; Ponnappan; Swami; DS; Rajeev Cc: VK; gmayyala2002 Re: Re: Anadhyayana Kaalam ----- Portions of the Original Message of Sri Madhavan ----- > There are some people who say that the Anadhyana Kalam commences >with the > thirunakshatram of Thirumangai Mannan (Aazhwar) and >concludes with the > end of the holy month of Maargazhi.
