Today is a glorious day , the day of Thirumangai AzhwAr's

avathAra dinam . Today is SarvAlaya Kaarthigai Dheepam ,

where we pay reverence to JyOthis Tatthvam of the Supreme

Brahaman .

 

The Upanishad's salute this JyOthis aspect f Brahman through many

manthrams .

 

The tEjOmaya Brahman as amruthamaya Purushan is saluted in the Madhu

BrahmANam section of BruhadhAraNyaka Upanishad . As antharyAmi Brahman ,

this amruthamaya Purushan is recognized as dwelling as " the light and bliss "

in all entities . He is recognized as the Sarva Swamy ( SarvEshAm adhipathi: ,

SarvEshAm BhUthAnAm RaajA ). He is saluted at the end of each Madhu BrAhmaNa

manthram as " tEjOmaya: amruthamaya: Purusha : AyamEva Sa: yOayamAthmA ,

idham amrutham idham Brama IDHAM SARVAM ". This is the Aanandhamaya

Purushan celebrated by Thirumangai in all his Paasurams .

 

This is the Parama Purushan at ThiruviNNagar or AakAsa Nagaram , where

the matchless Lord ( OppArilappan ) resides and was addressed with affection by

Thirumangai , Poygai , pEy , Swamy NammAhwAr and Thirumangai as well as

Swamy Desikan .

Dr. NSA Swamy translates this manthram this way :

 

" This Moon is like honey to all beings . All beings are honey to this Moon .

The effulgent and immortal Purusha , who is in this Moon as the innerself , and

the effulgent and immortal Purusha , who is in the adhyAthma and in

the mind is verily this athman or ParamAthman alone. This is the Athman.

This is immortal . All this is Brahman ".

 

Thirumangai AzhwAr's Prabhandha Paasurams have been saluted as

"AaraNa Saaram , Parasamayap-panjukkalanin PoRi ". They are Sruthi

Saaram and the spark of Fire that burns to ash all the Para Mathams

that are Kudhrushti and Kumathi Mathams .
