Sri Alavandhaar's SthOthra Rathnam verse- 46- when will I serve You forever and delight You eternally?

SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah:

Dearest Srivaishnavas,

 

The reason for which Alavandhar described the Lord so

exhaustively along with PiraaTTi, His love for Her,

Her compassion, Their paraphrenelia, and the greatest

NityasUris, - now he comes out why…

 

bhavanthamEvAnu charan nirantharam

prasaantha nissEsha manOraThAnthara:

kadha(S)aham aikAnthika nithya kimkara:

praharshayishyaami sanaatha jeevitha: [46]

 

when will I ever [be blessed to] crushing all other

desires in my mind, with the only object in mind for

serving at Your Feet alone as Your humble servant;

uninterruptedly worship You and You alone and live

with You eternally and delight You forever..

 

waiting on You alone; with all other worldly desires

crushed from my mind with Your blessings; when will be

ever be blessed to be Your eternal dAsda bhUthan,

sEsha bhUthan – Your servant; for You and You alone;

exhilarate You and delight You forever and ever and

live with You forever as my Lord..

 

whatever discrimination powers that You blessed me

with; whatever detachment I develop; the mind runs

amuck after worldly pleasures as long as I am in this

world; Even if I detach the mind myself from one thing

with vairAgyam, it goes and switches onto another. All

such desires in my mind should vanish; get destroyed;

In order to get the desires to do service at Your

Feet, naturally the desires after the worldly objects

need to go away. The sleep, the eating, and others

would pursue me and keep me away from You and serving

You; Please crush them. All those vaasanas do need to

be gotten rid of from the roots; Then only can my mind

think of You- Sriya: Pathi uninterruptedly.. Then only

can I become kinkaran… asking You what shall and How

shall I serve You? Kim karOmi? Kim karOmi and then

will i become kainakaryaparan. That status would then

persist and will never ever go away as You would have

already blessed me with eternal association and being

with You at Your Feet then.

 

When I become such a kinkaran, then I would go and

follow You wherever You go like iLayaperumAL

(Lakshaman) and serve You uninterruptedly. Then,

immediately my life would like that of a chaste wife

who would be with the husband at all times serving

Him. To make myself so in such a state, is not for me

and for self interest. It is for Your pleasure and

delight. I am Your humble servant at all times and it

is my only duty to serve You and for Your pleasure.

You are my master – sEshi and it is the natural duty

of myself being your eternal sEshan [servant].

 

For me- who is the sEshan- what else is required other

than Your delight and pleasure? Thus Your enjoyment

alone is my target and objective. But how can I do

that here with my mind not being steady due to karma

vasanaas… and my buddhi stumbles and falls over the

material and worldly objects. There could be many days

passing by without serving You at all; That would be

against my essential nature of being your eternal

servant and hence I would be failing in my duty

thereby. Hence, PLEASE bless me the state of being

your eternal servant and performing uninterrupted

service NOW – right now and it would be great. Though

I am stamped as being your servant eternally as a

jeevan- whose essential nature is to be Your servant

and is… , the day has not yet come for serving You so

due to my karma.. and am waiting for that day… Is it

today? When is it?- asks Alavandhaar. Though I have

performed Saranagathi (in 22nd verse), my state is

like the wife who has not yet gone to husband’s place

to serve him.. when is it?
