Guest guest
Thief? 'kaLvan kol?' Who is a thief? A person who removes another's belongings with or without his knowledge, is a thief. It was seen earlier that parakAla nAyaki was suffering from pangs of separation from the Lord. The mother of AzhwAr was giving solace to her. The Lord suddenly came and took away parakAla nAyaki. The mother exclaims "kaLvan kol?" yAn-aRiyEAn." I do not know who took away my daughter. Perhaps, He is a thief. The Almighty is the owner of the soul. He takes away AzhwAr. A person who takes His belongings cannot be a thief. The Lord took away the girl, delicately. This was done in front of the mother. Hence, this cannot be a thief as thief steal thngs surreptiously.. Hence, the doubt is expressed by the mother "kaLvan kol?" The discussion between thiru piLLai amudhanAr and sri bHattar will amply highlight this aspect. piLLai amudhanAr: The Lord took away parakAla nAyaki like delicately removing the spear from it sheath. bHaTTar: Some thieves come with lights--thEvattik-koLLai kAran- and rob right in front of the mother, the mother screaming "piLLai. piLLai". This is what that must have occurred in this case. The mother was petrified and traumatised and hence the words 'kaLvan kol?" in the pAsuram "kaLvan kol! yAn aRiyEan..." 3-7-1; (to be continued) vanamamalai padmanabhan
