Sri Alavandhaar's SthOthra Rathnam verse- 54- please grant me the enjoyment of You and You alone and intense devotion for You and You alone

SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah:

 

Dearest Srivaishnavas,

 

Till now- the Saranagthi that was performed was

decsribed and explained by Alavandhaar. His

[dis]qualifications [aakinchanyam], his no other

refuge other than the Lord sriya: Pathi Sriman

Narayanan; the nature and mode of performance of

Prapatti [saranagathi] and then the saatvIka thyAga,

karthrtva thyAga, phala thyAga were explained. After

having realised that he has to spend some more time

here (before he would attain Paramapadham], he pleads

for kaimkarya sri here in this world until the last

breath and also to prevent becoming the slave for the

sense organs and prays for much more intense devotion

to His Lotus feet.

 

avabOdhithavaan imam yathA mayee

nithyam bhavadheeyathaam swayam

krupayaivam ananya bhOgyathaam

bhagavan! Bhakthim api prayacchamE.. [54]

 

Oh Bhagawan! The nirdhOsha guNanidhI! The wealth and

repository of most auspicious attributes! The above

mentioned [imaam] my eternal sEshathvam [being a

servant] for You; - the way You Yourself on Your own

accord- out of greatest compassion on me- have

awakened me this consciousness in me. Similarly, with

your unbounded grace, compassion, please grant me, the

enjoyment of You and You alone and intense devotion

for You and You alone.

 

The mahaapaapi- greatest sinner- I had been for so

many aeons (births) and now out of Your own grace and

accord, You have awakened in me the consciousness of

being eternal servant of Yours; what is the reason for

that? Because You ARE the Bhagawaan- the Lord with six

opulent qualities and with absolutely no blemishes, I

was blessed with this. It is because of Your divine

grace on me. Similarly, please bless me the devout and

more enjoyment for ever and ever at Your Lotus Feet

and to enjoy You alone in this world.
