Guest guest
sri: srimate rangapriya mahadesikaya namah: Dear Bhagavathas, I would like to touch on a very special point made by Dr Sri V Sadagopan, on the importance of Acharya Bhakti and Devotion to God as the best cure for destruction of bad dreams as well as reducing the negative effects of all samsaric afflictions. The Pancharatra Agama, which forms the cornerstone of Sri Vaishnavism prescribes a five fold method for attaining this Bhakti towards Guru and God.This in pancharatra terminology is known as Pancha Kala Kriya : Abhigamana- the abrdiged form of puja performed in the morning just after sun rise and after performance of anushtanams such as sandhya vandanam , ashtakshara japam, etc. Upadana- the collection of materials required for the midday puja known as Ijjya Ijjya - performance of full puja rituals with all upacharas with the various mantras, shlokas and chants prescribed by the agamas and advised by our acharyas Swadhyaya - the period just after midday meals dedicated to the study of the holy texts that teach salvation or moksha -i.e Upanishads, Vedas, Dhivya Prabandhams,Gita, etc Yoga- This last period of the day is after the evening meal and before bed time is set aside for some silent meditation on God and his divine deeds. In these activities we are engaging all our senses in the service of God throughout the day and we become energized by that God Conciousness. By engaging in spiritual activities prescribed by the sastras we can gain inner peace ; we become free from bad feelings and thoughts as we shift our focus from the external surrounding filled with negativity to our " indweller" who resides in our hearts as the form of "antaryamin". I seek forgiveness from the elders of the group if I have committed any offenses or errors in my presentation. All that is good is only a result of my acharya's blessings.
