To day ( Dec 15) is the First day of Dhanur Maasam.

The special AarAdhanam for Our ANDAL begins today.

Today is also SravaNa Dinam . Let us reflect on the

key passages of ThiruppAvai :

 

" NaarAyaNanE NamakkE PaRai TaruvAnn"

 

(Comments) : Sriman NaarAyaNan , the SarvEswaran , who incarnated as

KrishNan will grant us , His BhagavathAs who have performed Prapatthi to Him ,

the bliss of Moksham readily .

 

She taught us the glories of Prapatthi as the uthkrushta maargam

( MaargaseershamAna Prapatthi ) through the above UpadEsam

right at the beginning of Her ThiruppAvai .

 

Towards the end of ThiruppAvai , She reminded us that

Prapatthi is KshaNa Karthavyam /can be done in a trice

( SiRRam SiRu kaalatthil Seyyak-kUdiyathu) .

In this birth and in the upcoming seven births , My we be blessed

to have You , KrishNa as our Sarva vidha Bandhu. We will not pay

homage to any others(ithara dEvathAs since we recognize You

alone as our Para Devathai). We will perform kaimkaryam only to You

and You alone .

is referred to . With " UnakkE nAmm aatccheyvOm " , the meaning of

"NaarAyaNAya " is referrd to . With " MaRRai namm kAmangaL MaaRRu " ,

the meaning of nama: sabdham is referred to . Thus the Moola MantrArTam

is covered in the most meaningful lines of " SiRRam SiRu kaalE vanthu

Unnai sEvitthu " Paasuram of ThiruppAvai .

visEsha aarAdhanam for Godhaa Priyan ,

I have a doubt regarding determining the first day of Dhanur Masam

for purposes of doing vishesha aradhanam. If Maasa Pirappu happens in

the afternoon, is it still considered day 1? What if it happens in

the night but before sunrise of the next day?

Your two questions are good ones .

 

Here are the responses :

 

1. For this year , Marghazhi Maasam dawned around 12.01 PM .

That is when the visEsha AarAdhanam should be prformed .

The PuNya Kaalam of SankramANam extends 10 naazhikais before.

Therefore for office goers , Morning aarAdhanam say at 8.30 AM

was fine . Ideally , the BhAvam is the key ingredient.

 

After the VisEsha aaradhanam , the other day's dhanur Maasa AarAdhanam can

be done before Sunrise .

 

2. In the case of SankramaNam being in night and before

Sunrise , the aaarAdhanam on the previous day is recommended .
