Guest guest
aNDathin mugadazhundha alai munnEr thirai thathumba Amidst the tragedy and trauma after the calmity caused by tsunami waves, sri thirumangai mannan's pAsuram haunts my mind. The enormity of the pAsuram-s and the impact has gone home only after this tsunami has hit the coast. the waves swallowing the whole world submerging the landmass is easily described by nElan in the thiru-mozhi "mai ninRa karum kaDal vAyulagainRi ..." thiru-mozhi 11-6; The ninth pAsuram " aNdathin mugadazhundha alai munnEr thirai thathumba-hA! hA! enRu thoNdarkkum munivarkkum amararkum thAn aruLi.." 11-10; When the tidal waves sweep across the land mass and the waters surge on in, the devotees and saint feel " oh! what a thing has a happened" .. the Lord rescue them and appease their feelings. This thiru-mozhi compeltely narrates the world being swallowed by the waters. The more I read the pAsuram-s it is more menacing especailly after the tsunami waves of dec.26. ' We should really hope that the LOrd keeps us in His belly and not allow the sea waves to engulf us. "veRRip pOre kadal araiyan vizhungAmal thAn vizhungi vuyyak koNDa" thiru-mozhi 11-6-3; (to be continued) vanamamalai padmanabhan
