Guest guest
Sri: Srimathe Ramanujaya Nama: Dear bhAgavatas, Sri Padmanabhan Swami's point that Bhattar's presence is everywhere in Thiruppavai is apt. adiyEn has heard from upanyAsakas that not only in Thiruppavai but in all of the 4000 vyakhyanams, Bhattar's nirvAhams are the last say on that matter. Sri Padmanabhan's point will be the focus of our series 'A Day in the Lif of our Acharyas' next - that is, we will look at all of Bhattar's nirvAhams in Thiruppavai, pasuram by pasuram. adiyEn madhurakavi dAsan -- Sri: Srimathe Ramanujaya Nama: Thiruppavai pasuram 1: "mathi niRaintha" This phrase refers to the full moon. Prior to this, the gOpikas were seeking the darkness - for lovers and thieves, it is darkness that is needed. It is thus Andal had sung "naLLirutkaN ennai uyththidumin" in Nacchiyar Thirumozhi. There Andal had mentioned Sri Nandagopar's doorstep ("nandagOpan kadaiththalai"). Bhattar recalls that here and explains what is happening in Sri Nandagopar's doorstep: "bhishakkukkaL vAsal Arththar kattaNamAyk kidakkumApOlE, srinandagOpar vAsal krushNanAlE puNpatta peNgaL kattaNamAyk kidakkumAyk koLLIr". That is, just as people who are badly hurt physically are brought in stretchers and placed at the doorstep of the doctor's office, so too gOpikas whose hearts are affected by Sri Krishna are brought in stretchers and placed at the doorstep of Sri Nandagopar (and a whole lot of these girls are thus lying at the doorstep).
