Guest guest
Sri Parthasarathi thunai Srimathe ramanujaya Namaha Srimad Vara Vara MunayE namaha Sri Vanachala mahA munayE namaha Dear Bhagavatas, Though the marghazhi month, in which andal sang 30 paasurams of thiruppavai and underwent marghazhi nombu has come to an end this year, adiyen humbly requests the permission of all bhagavatas to give me more time to continue with this series of posting as adiyen was unable to post many days due to other commitments and dhanur masa utsavams. In the seventh paasuram, “keesu keesendru” Andal wakes up a bhagavata stri, who is filled with bhagavat vishaya jnanam (knowledge) but has forgotten the same. How to decide whether one is having deep involvement in bhagavat vishayam or not? “bhagavat vishayaththilE meyyE ruchi vundendru erukkaiyAvadhu – bhAgavathargalai kandAl vugakkumendru kAnum” A person who has real involvement in bhagavat vishayam feels elated in the presence of another bhagavata. Bhagavatanubhavam cannot be done all alone. Satsangam is very important for enjoying the divine kalyana gunas of emperuman. Sri Krishna says, “bhodhayantha parasparam” as the quality of his bhakthas. Knowing all these well the gopi inside has not joined the ghosti outside since she has been carried away by her mental concentration on the divine kalyana gunas of Sri krishna. How can you do it all alone? We want your presence with us so that our ghosti will get a special brightness, says Andal. First she calls her as “pEy penne” But the gopi inside enjoys bhagavatas scolding her and hence didn’t react. So now understanding her mind andal calls her “nAyanka pen pillAi” This is the difference between bhagavatas and lowkikas. Lowkikas who run after lowkika pleasures react when some one touches their ego and feel very happy when someone praises them and calls them their leader. But bhagavatas always love to be the servants of other bhagavatas “adiyArkku adiyAr” “thondar thondar thondar thondan sadakOpan”. So the gopi inside jumped out of bed on hearing the others call her as the leader. ‘Am I not your servant why do you call me your master?’ Andal replies, “Oh! Probably that is why you haven’t joined us even after we sang the praise of our lord. Hearing about kEsavan shouldn’t you run to do mangalasasanams to that divine lord? “nArayanan moorthi kEsavanai pAdavum nee kEttE kidaththiyO dEsamudaiyAi tira?" (To be continued) Azhvar emperumAnAr Jeeyer thiruvadigalE sharaNam Adiyen ramanuja dAsee Sumithra Varadarajan
