Guest guest
The sound of Wealth What is wealth for an agriculturist? Apart from the yield, the flowers, the scent, the nectar and the honey are all wealth. Can we believe that these were flowing unhindered in thirunAngUr? In vaikuntha viNNagaram, the lotus and sen-kazhunEr flowers were overflowing with the nectar and honey. This kept the tillers busy as ever. The overflowing liquid was trying to flow out of the borders and the farmer goes and blocks in one side. The next time the flow is on another direction. Immediately he rushes to the other side. This goes on and on, reflecting the rich wealth of ths dhivya dhEsam. This is what is told in the pAsuram "...mARADha malar kamalam senkazhunEr thadhumbi, madhu veLLam vozhuga, vayal vuzhavar madai adaippa, mARADha selvam vaLaru maNi nAngUr vaikuntha viNNagaram vaNangu mada nenjEA" 3-9-8; When the flow exceeds bounds, one person shouts " Hey! it is going out of control" and the boundry is closed. The next somebody else shouts " Now, it is coming over this side" and that side is closed. Thus, this din goes on conveying the richness. This sound is described by sri periya vAchAn piLLai as "angEa vudaindhadhu kiDAi, ingEa vudaindhadhu kidAi, sahyaperukkidAi enRu kUppidugiRa AravAramEyAik kidakkumAyiRRu" (to be continued) vanamamalai padmanabhan
