Guest guest
venjina mUkkarindha Sri bhattar's role reversed. It has been often observed that the clarification is sought from sri bhattar. Here is a very rare reference to sri bhattar seeking clarification. In this pAsuram, the thAyar of parkAla nAyaki is haunted by the fact of sUrpanakA who was attracted by sri rAmA losing one of her features. This is understood from the words "anjuvan venjol nangAi arakkar kulapppAvai thannai, ven-sina mUkkarindha viralOn thiRam kEAtkil.." 3-7-3; Sri bhattar questions, ' if the thAyar fears that her daughter will also land up in the fate of sUrpanAkA and if this is in fact the fear, then is it not a defect on the auspicious quality of the LOrd?' For this sri AchAn piLLai says "thuduppu irukka kai vEga vEANumOA!?emperumAnAr thAmEA aruLich seidhu vaithArirEa" Why should one struggle, when there is a ready made answer already given by emperumAnAr. Well, earlier when sUrpanAkA's nose was cut (cut to size?), it ended up in sri rAmA and sEtha getting separated. It should be thus understood that thAyAr does not fear any mishap to parkAlA nAyaki from the Lord but fears such an event going by the epic. That is what is meant by AzhwAr in this pAsuram: anjuvan-arakkar kulap pAvai-mUkkarindha viralOan thiRam kEatkil (to be continued) vanamamalai padmanabhan
