Guest guest
Sri Parthasarathi thunai Srimathe ramanujaya Namaha Srimad Vara Vara munayE Namaha Sri vAnAchala mahA munayE Namaha Dear bhagavatas, There was a short break in this series of postings due to anadyayana kAlam. Since now it is thirumazhisai azhvar utsava time, his thirunakshatram thaiyil magam coming in few more days adiyen would like to continue with this series to enjoy the divine anubhavams of azhvar and remain in his thoughts atleast during this period. Paasuram-31 “mEl nanmugan aranai yitta vidusApam thAn nAraNan ozhiviththAn thAragaiyul-vAnOr perumAnai EththAdha pEigAl pirakkum karumAyam pEsil kadhai” In the previous paasuram thirumazhisai azhvar declared that emperuman is the only one who removes all his miseries. Is it only for azhvar? ‘Oh! No. He is capable of removing the sorrow of even the devas (brahma, rudras) who you all consider as your lord. So fall to his divine feet’ advices azhvar in this paasuram. (mEl nAnmugan aranai yitta vidu sApam) Earlier nAnmuga brahma was infuriated by the devastating act of his own son rudra, who plucked one of brahma’s head out of jealousy. Hence Brahma cursed rudra to become a kapali (the head stuck to rudra’s hand) (thAn nAranan ozhiviththAn thAragaiyul) Rudra wandered everywhere to get rid of the kapalam in his hand but all in vain. Finally he surrendered to Sriman Narayanan who alone was capable of overcoming this great misery of rudra. (vAnOr perumAnai) One son plucked his father’s head and remained a great sinner. The father cursed the son and was left with deep sorrow. Emperuman came to the rescue of both of them and removed their misery. Deeply involved in the great acts of emperuman the nithya sooris are ever under his divine feet or otherwise even the other devas on seeing this act of emperuman have realized that the supreme leader is none other than Sriman nArayanan and hence emperuman is called as ‘vAnOr perumAn’ by azhvar (vAnOr refers to either the nithya sooris or the lowly devas) (EththAdha pEigAl) Oh! Fools. Inspite of knowing all these why are you still not singing the praise of the divine lord. Do you know what result you will attain do to your foolishness? These are azhvars words in utter frustration that the people out of ignorance are still suffering in this samsara. (pirakkum perumAyam pEsil kadhai) If you do not surrender to the divine feet of emperuman then you are sure to be born again and again. “mAri mAri palapirappum pirandhu” and each time you will have to experience the bitter hardships inside the womb of the mother. If I start telling about all those difficulties, then it will become one another mahabharatha story.
